This #ThrowbackThursday, we’re reflecting on a key highlight from #2024 – when we had the chance to sit down and hear from some of our Summit attendees. We recorded 8 video interviews as part of our Conversations on Nature series, where attendees shared their reflections on the Summit and a nature positive future. We begin with the Hon Mona Ainu’u, Minister for Natural Resources in Niue. Minister Ainu’u talked candidly about why she attended the #GlobalNaturePositiveSummit, and why this work matters – not only as a Minister, but as a mother, and for the Pacific region.   She also touched on the new connections she made at the Summit, and how she hopes they will bring positive outcomes for her country. It’s been 1 month since the #GlobalNaturePositiveSummit and we’ve seen many great conversations and personal reflections shared across social media from our attendees. Today, we wanted to share our reflections are now up on our website. The Summit contributed to the global movement toward establishing nature positive economies and accelerating collective action to drive investment in nature. It provided a platform for dialogue and collaboration for more than 1000 global leaders and experts from around 50 countries including environment and climate ministers, corporate leaders and representatives from environmental groups, Indigenous Peoples, scientists and community leaders. There was broad agreement on the following key issues: • working to halt and reverse biodiversity loss to put nature on a path to recovery is good for communities and makes sense for business • nature needs to be factored into economic and business decisions • clear and consistent metrics are important to report on nature and progress towards collective nature positive goals • #naturepositive and #netzero objectives must work together • Indigenous leadership and perspectives are key to addressing environmental challenges. 🌿Students and teachers from across Australia are raising their voices for a nature positive future by submitting nature poems to the Red Room Poetry Poem Forest competition.   This initiative is amplifying young voices who are passionate about protecting and restoring our environment.   For every poem submitted, a tree is planted by Red Room Poetry in partnership with Wollongong City Council.    Some of the poetry submissions were on display at the #GlobalNaturePositiveSummit last week.    Want to explore these inspiring submissions? By weaving ghost net wulbung (baskets), master weavers are helping to rid Australian shores of harmful ocean debris and use this plastic in a sustainable way. They are also sharing their traditional knowledge and weaving wulbung skills with new generations to ensure these traditions continue.   The #GlobalNaturePositiveSummit was proud to display more than 70 of these beautiful ghost net baskets to visiting delegates from all over the world this week.   Agency Projects, in support of the Numbulwar Numburindi Arts, has generously facilitated collection of the ghost net baskets featured in the Summit installation.    Hear from Agency Projects CEO Kade McDonald ⬇️ Find out more about this installation and its nature positive impact ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eWnC__AE
