Congratulations, American Chemical Society International Heroes of Chemistry! A team from Savannah River Mission Completion, Savannah River National Laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) was lauded for developing and deploying a first-of-a-kind separations #chemistry that is remediating millions of gallons of radioactive waste at the Savannah River Site. Two embodied innovations are a sorbent for strontium and actinides (SRNL lead researcher Dave Hobbs is shown shaking hands) and solvent extraction for cesium removal (ORNL lead researcher Bruce Moyer follows Hobbs).
