Description RAPS Utah Chapter and ASQ Salt Lake Section are getting together for a joint learning meeting. We'll be joined by Rai Chowdary who will address quality in the life science environment. After our joint meeting, we will join the rest of BioUtah for their Fall BBQ at the Gateway. BBQ admission is included with registration to this event. Rai Chowdhary Rai is an entrepreneur, coach, inventor, and author. The KPI System is his eighth startup and is focused on enabling performance improvement with a client list spanning startups to established Fortune 50 companies. Rai has a passion for risk management and believes we are rather naive when it comes to managing risk. They are universally valued as important and valuable tools to support the design, manufacture, testing, and regulation of medical devices and, as such, play a key role in promoting safety and public health. When manufacturers rely upon FDA-recognized standards, submission documentation is less burdensome and more streamlined. This session will demonstrate the value of standards, explain how to cite them to maximize efficiencies, including in eSTAR, and introduce participants to the FDA’s latest program to enhance standards’ use: the Accreditation Scheme for Conformity Assessment, or ASCA. This discussion will also provide updates and insights to help regulatory professionals understand the FDA eSTAR program and how to cite standards using the eSTAR templates. She is responsible for policy development and analysis related to the development and use of standards and conformity assessment and leads DSCA’s strategic planning and communications efforts. Prior to coming to the FDA, Dr. Rodriguez served in various policy, sales, marketing and training roles in the radiopharmaceuticals industry, and in leadership positions for several diagnostic imaging associations. She earned her Ph.D. in Political Science, with an emphasis on health policy, from the University of Kansas. Thanks to the response by Utah RAPS Chapter members there was strong local participation in the RAPS Scope of Practice survey. “Our chapter had the highest participation rate across the country in the Scope of Practice survey.” said Chris Phillips, RAPS Utah Chapter Leader, “So we just received a $500 boost in our Utah chapter account. Nice work everyone!!!” “We also achieved the mythical 40 number too, so the report will provide access to local Utah statistics.” Once all the data is crunched and interpreted the Scope of Practice will be published later this year. Improving response rates makes the Scope of Practice so much more valuable to our RA community (locally, nationally, globally).
