🏗 Work on the Staveley 21 regeneration project is progressing well – since starting in December the contractor has demolished the toilet block and began preparation works in the market place.  Work to lay the foundation for the new building will start soon along with improvements to the paving outside shops later this month. 👷♀️ The Construction Skills Hub is officially open! At the opening representatives from the Devonshire Group, Chesterfield College, University of Derby, Chesterfield Borough Council and Toby Perkins MP had the opportunity to meet students who are studying at the hub and find out more about how this Staveley Town Deal project will help young people to access great careers in Staveley. The Hub provides students with the skills they need to access careers in the construction industry whilst also providing them with experience to help secure their first job. 🏗 Work is progressing well at the Derbyshire County Council Staveley Waterside site – with the steelwork going up you can see how the building will transform the area around the canal basin. With funding through the Town Deal the projects includes the development of new commercial space, including the potential for a new café bar and moorings for canal boats which aims to help bring more visitors to the site to explore the canal and local area.  You can find out more about the project by visiting: https://lnkd.in/ebiWp-C3

I walked past the bridge site today on my way back from another meeting - good to see the final details being completed as the solid ekki panels get fixed into place to finish off the handrails. The two halves of the bridge have now been welded back together and the final painting is being completed. Almost ready for the big day! Roll on Thursday morning, when the lift is scheduled. ❗ Works are set to begin in Staveley town centre in November - there will be an information session where residents and businesses can meet the contractor and find out more about the schedule of works in the market on Wednesday 23 October from 1pm to 3pm.
