I got to talk with Paul Skevington, founder of the start-up cycling brand PARIETTI, about his goal to provide cyclists with a more sustainable option of cyclewear. We hear of Paul’s background from his origins in the UK to his family’s relocation to Spain where he found the inspiration for Parietti. • 🎙️ If you haven't caught up on this wonderful conversation, now's the time! I had the pleasure of diving into the world of a sustainable fashion trailblazer in this episode of The Sustainable Fashion Wingman podcast. Talking with Marci Zaroff, a visionary who coined the term "eco-fashion" back in the 90s. Marci's journey, starting in the organic food sector, seamlessly transitioned into fashion where she has become a powerhouse on the eco-fashion scene with a “greenhouse” of eco brands. Marci talks about the mission of her brands, YES AND, Farm to Home, her manufacturing hub METAWEAR, what it was like to be a published author with her book "(eco)renaissance," and the critical role of regenerative agriculture in her work. Marci's also shares her involvement in shaping industry standards like GOTs and her role as Chair of the Textile Exchange. We also explored YESand's approach to climate action and championing sustainable cotton, along with Marci’s ambitious, regenerative agriculture project "Reset Cotton”. Marci shares her inspiration and vision for the future of sustainable fashion, one that should be looked at in terms of health for us and the planet. As well as offering valuable advice to businesses aspiring to embrace sustainability. 🎧 Listen in on your favourite podcast platform or at these links… Online: https://lnkd.in/eGeZnFqW Apple: https://lnkd.in/e9CaMgW7 Spotify: https://lnkd.in/ex3VDneZ #Fashion #SustainableFashion #Sustainability #Retail #Podcast

  • 👟 Where do you get sustainably conscious shoes for kids?? Well, I had an insightful chat about this niche area of the apparel world in the latest episode of The Sustainable Fashion Wingman. It was a pleasure to talk with Ali McAleavy, founder of ZIG+STAR about the challenges of sustainability in kid’s footwear. Ali talked about what spurred her on to found a business like Zig+Star and how it is filling a much-needed gap in the childrenswear market. Plug in your pods and listen in on how Zig+Star are providing a more sustainable and non-gendered alternative to kid’s footwear, as well as advice on starting a responsible kidswear brand. 🎧 Listen at https://lnkd.in/eGeZnFqW Or on your favourite podcast platform. If you think you have something to share about sustainable fashion and would like to be a guest on the podcast, DM me for a chat. It could be about your company's steps taken to be sustainably conscious. Perhaps your job involves sustainable and ethical processes and you'd like to how you carry that out. I hear the "Sustainability in Careers" segment is popular with students. Or you're involved in an exciting innovation, campaign, or legislation that affects the industry. #fashion #sustainablefashion #retail #circularfashion #positivefashion

  • 🍃 It's September, already! Wow! Which means it’s Second Hand September! 🛍️ If you’ve not heard of it yet, Second Hand September is a global movement founded by Oxfam, encouraging us all to rethink our shopping habits and opt for pre-loved fashion items instead of buying new ones. It may only be one month of the year, but it makes a difference! It’s great for the planet and supports the growth of the circular economy. So, I thought I’d give a little run down of some of the standout options for shopping vintage and preloved here in the UK and in the US. Which are your faves? 👇🏽 ♻️ Oxfam: The founders of SHS, and a charity we all know well. Always worth popping into one of their many stores to support their good work and come away with a unique piece of clothing. ♻️ thredUP: One of the largest online thrift stores, offering a wide range of second-hand clothing, shoes, and accessories. ♻️ The RealReal: This luxury consignment store specialises in authenticated, pre-owned designer fashion items. ♻️ Depop: A popular peer-to-peer fashion marketplace where users can buy and sell vintage and second-hand clothing. ♻️ Etsy Shop Vintage: While Etsy is known for handmade and craft items, it also has a thriving vintage section where you can find unique clothing and accessories. ♻️ The Vintage Twin: Vintage Twin specialises in curated vintage fashion, focusing on sustainability and style. ♻️ Beyond Retro: We love this vintage clothing retailer with stores in London and online shopping options, offering a wide selection of vintage pieces. ♻️ Swap: The online thrift store that allows users to buy and sell second-hand clothing, toys, and more. ♻️ Patagonia Worn Wear: This Patagonia program focuses on buying and selling high-quality used Patagonia gear, promoting sustainability in outdoor clothing. ♻️ Rebag: Rebag specialises in luxury handbags and accessories, offering a platform for buying and selling pre-owned designer items. ♻️ Vestiaire Collective: Renowned Vestiaire is a global platform for buying and selling pre-owned luxury fashion items, with a strong emphasis on quality and authenticity. ♻️ Vinted: Vinted is an online marketplace that allows users to buy, sell, and swap second-hand clothing, shoes, and accessories. It's a platform known for its user-friendly interface and community-driven approach to sustainable fashion. As you know, at Jaymes Byron Talent, we’re all about promoting sustainable practices within the fashion and retail sectors.
