Proudly serving the transportation engineering community since 2002

About us

On October 1, 2002, the ASCE Board of Directors officially established the Society’s seventh technical institute, the Transportation and Development Institute (T&DI). T&DI’s purpose is to meet the needs of civil engineers whose focus area is in transportation engineering and land planning and development and assist them as global leaders in providing a more sustainable future for everyone. Transportation engineers are fostering an innovative, sustainable, and exciting future and we are so excited to be a part of it! From Connected and autonomous vehicles to mobility on demand to artificial intelligence, transportation engineering is the way of the future. T&DI’s members include both Society and Institute-only members who volunteer their services to advance technical aspects of the civil engineering profession. Global membership consists of transportation and development experts from the public, private, and academic sectors, along with a strong younger member population that includes both students and young professionals. Throughout the year, we offer journal publications, free webinars, continuing education credits, online community forums, committee and council memberships, student programs, free student membership, networking opportunities, and our annual International Conference on Transportation and Development (ICTD). Our members are our top priority, and we are constantly striving to improve your experience. Join us, get involved, and have a great time!
