Thirty-three blocks are on offer within shallow and deep-water domains, across a total coverage area of 98,800 Km2. Remotely sensed seepage data has repeatedly proven to be a low-cost high impact tool in the screening of offshore acreages. Are you keeping an eye on Oil and Gas exploration in West Africa? It is encouraging to see negotiations are about to commence for the successful candidates of the Sierra Leone Fifth offshore petroleum licensing round. In total, nine of the fifty exploration blocks on offer are expected to be accepted. Natural oil seepage data is a practical tool to help prove the existence of a working petroleum system at depth. When subsurface and satellite derived data are integrated, it can improve the accuracy of petroleum system models, giving us a more accurate assessment of the hydrocarbon flux over time.
