What Does This Mod Add?

New reload mechanics:
  • A Bullet in the Chamber that gives you one extra round on partial reload.
  • Optional Tactical Reload Mode so that only TR enabled weapons will use this feature. This means that you will never need to patch any weapons out.
  • Ammo Drop when reloading. You can either drop your ammo on the ground or have it disappear forever. This also takes into account the extra bullet in the chamber and you will drop 1 less than what you currently have in the weapon.

Immersive ammo checking:
  • An Approximate Ammo Check Hotkey that displays a message with roughly how much ammo you have remaining in the magazine e.g. about half.
  • An Exact Ammo Check Hotkey that displays the exact current, max & reserve amounts as well as the name of the ammo currently in use.
  • Simple animations (lowering and raising the weapon) and foley sounds while checking ammo. Compatible with all weapons, without patches.
  • Perfect for minimum HUD, maximum immersion players.
  • If anyone wants, they can message me to contribute by making voice lines via xVASynth for this mod.
  • Be sure to let us know if you want to make or already have custom ammo check anims for your weapons and want them to work with this mod!

New hotkeys:
  • A hotkey to seamlessly change your fire-mode. Implemented differently from other mods that do this such as ECO. This does not require the weapon to have native semi-auto firing sounds built in, making it compatible with all automatic weapons.
  • A lower/holster weapon hotkey. Short press to lower, long press to holster. Includes a "speed walking" fix to slow animations while weapon is lowered.
  • A reload/check ammo hotkey. Short press to reload, long press to check your ammo. This hotkey is currently incompatible with Tactical Reload Manual version; use vanilla reload key instead.
  • Separate throw grenade and melee hotkeys.

And more...
  • Ability to make throwing grenades require your weapon to be holstered. Now that's immersive.
  • The ability to turn every single feature on/off through the Mod Configuration Menu. This makes it compatible with practically everything depending on what features you plan to use.

Patching Weapons

Keywords, keywords everywhere:
  • If you don't enable Tactical Reload mode, you will need to patch some weapons by adding the BitCh_DisableChamberedReload keyword to exclude them from the extra ammo mechanic. This includes weapons like revolvers, shotguns etc.
  • You will also need to patch weapons so that they can't drop ammo with BitCh_CantDropAmmo. For example, reloading a Gatling Laser with 400 rounds left will result in it dropping 400 Fusion Cores at your feet.
  • If a weapon lacks TR support but you still want to use both the extra ammo mechanic with TR mode, then you can add the BitCh_ForceBitChReload keyword to the weapon.
  • There is also a special keyword for Ammo Check that you can add to any OMODs or weapons to make it return exact values of ammo inside the mag instead of an estimate. Simply add the keyword BitCh_ExactCheckCapability.

Recommended mods:
  • Tactical Reload - not required, but recommended. The extra bullet mechanic was made to work seamlessly with Tactical Reload. The mod also has scripted TR detection so there are no dependencies on the plugin.
  • Ammo Boxes to Mags - works well with the ammo drop feature, so you're dropping actual magazines instead of the vanilla ammo boxes.
  • Bullet Counted Reload (BCR) - make sure to enable BCR mode in the MCM to fix some BCR bugs.

Load Order and Compatibility

Load order:
  • This mod has a few manual edits to Idle animations and should be loaded towards the end so they do not get overwritten. Make sure to check through xEdit and patch any conflicts.

Compatible mods:
  • You can use the Uneducated Reload mod by Bingle. This adds a similar bullet in the chamber mechanic, and both mods are now compatible with Bullet Counted Reload. Only difference between these two mods is that his mod is done via F4SE plugins, whereas mine uses the game scripts, has some extra features and integrates with Tactical Reload.

Incompatible mods:
  • None are completely incompatible (as far as we know), but mods like BCR still need their respective toggles turned on in the MCM to work nicely.

Installing and Uninstalling Instructions

Installing:
  • Install using a mod manager (preferably MO2), or manually if that is your thing.

Uninstalling:
  • Uninstall it at the start, middle or end of your save and it will not work anymore.
