iPad Pro (2024) battery and charging: Here's what we know
Besides the two new iPad Air models in 2024, Apple also announced two new iPad Pro models, both of which represent the thinnest devices the company has ever manufactured. One major issue that inherently comes with thin devices is battery size, but Apple appears to have mostly kept the same capacity as with the predecessors.

So, without further ado, here is what we know about the battery and charging specs for the iPad Pro M4 (2024).

iPad Pro M4 (2024) battery and charging summary

"*" = expected specs

Apple doesn't specify the battery capacity and charging speed of its devices, which includes its iPad tablets, so we won't know for sure until we get our hands on the new 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pros. We have done our calculations based on the watt-hours (31.29Wh and 38.99Wh) provided by Apple and assuming the voltage based on previous and other iPad models.

iPad Pro 11" M4 (2024)

  • Battery size: 8,300mAh*
  • Charging speed: between20-30W*
"*" = approximate measurements

The 2022 11" iPad Pro sported a 7,538mAh battery, but Apple seems to have increased that capacity by no small amount this time around, so we expect to see better results during our battery life tests.

Charging-wise, there shouldn't be any big changes. In fact, it might turn out that the new 11" iPad Pro is slower to charge because of its larger battery.

iPad Pro 13" M4 (2024)

  • Battery size: 10,340 mAh*
  • Charging speed: between 20-30W*
"*" = approximate measurements

Nothing has been different about the larger 13" iPad Pro models compared to the smaller 11" ones besides the size of the display and the battery. This remains true for the 2024 models.

The Battery of last year's 13-inch iPad Pro has a capacity of 10,758 mAh. Now, we don't know what the exact number is for the M4 13" iPad Pro, but our estimations are 10,340 mAh, so about the same. Here's how long it lasted during our own battery life tests:

Web Browsing(hours)Higher is better
Apple iPad Pro 13-inch(M4,2024)10h 54 min
Video Streaming(hours)Higher is better
Apple iPad Pro 13-inch(M4,2024)8h 22 min
3D Gaming(hours)Higher is better
Apple iPad Pro 13-inch(M4,2024)8h 34 min

As for charging, Apple did not say anything, but according to our testing it maxes out at about 33W. Here are the results we got during our tests:

Apple iPad Pro 13-inch(M4,2024)14%
