LG Optimus S Specs

I got the phone on Apri 1, 2011 and had it for over a year. At the time it was the only decent phone for Virgin Mobile, it was my first Android. It was a bad Android.

The phone worked for the first 2 months, after that it would start miss calls, or text messages every other day. Sometimes taking up to a week to recieve/deliver a text message. If I decided to install an app to send text messages, I was probably going to have to uninstall something since it only has 1Gb (.14GB) which is most of the time used by cache, contacts, and useless bloatware. I constantly had to manually delete cache of all the apps I was scavaging limited bytes, it felt like a survival/horror game.

It lasted more than a year by the time I already did 4 factory resets and the last month I had only the default apps, that is when the hardware started failing. It died in May, 2012. RIP is Piece ;<

For the price it sells on eBay now $30 is much better than the $150 I paid for, although if you really need a $30 phone for Virgin, might aswell go for an LG Optimus Elite, which has 1GB of storage, better processor, more RAM, better camera, takes actual videos(less fps /= cinematic), and better battery all for ~$5 more.

I've now put up with this phone for almost 2 years, and it's been a living hell the entire time. The only nice thing I can say about this phone is that it's effectively prevented me from destroying it. When I realized it was a piece of junk, I tried destroying it and getting Sprint to refund, but it appears that nothing short of a bursting shell will break it. The battery life is slim to none, and the battery often overheats and dies while plugged in. I'll randomly stop getting texts and calls all afternoon, and Sprint is definitely not the problem (all my family's phones still work). The typing program is horrific, lagging and not completing words and autocorrecting to random strings of letters frequently.

This phone isn't luxury, it isn't grace. It's like your grandfather's old pickup truck, not the prettiest thing in the world, but it gets the job done. It makes me sad that they trashed this design for something like the Note. EWGOD. It feels like if I drop that thing, it'll shatter. The Optimus is well built and durable. Waterproof it and sell it as a rugged phone. :Db
