I am passionate about amplifying voices and creating spaces for individuals to freely express themselves. This includes voices of people of colour, First Nations individuals, migrants, and other marginalised minority groups that experience greater systemic barriers. For some communities, there are expectations of how one should think and behave within their cultural context. However, this can often be misaligned with their true sense of self. Being stuck in between two cultural worlds can be challenging.
As an Asian who migrated to Australia, I celebrate social and cultural diversities. I believe there are complex interrelationships between cultural identity and mental health; so I seek to understand the socio-historical and cultural factors at play. I support clients by creating a safe space and by being curious about how they fit into the world around them
Through warmth and compassion, my person-centred approach aims to facilitate an empathetic and contained environment where individuals can explore and gain deeper insight into their emotional world. My approach also involves reflective practice and gentle challenges to help one grow, heal, and build resilience.
