ChatGPT is adding integrations with OneDrive and Google Drive as part of new enhancements to data analysis coming soon to ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise users. ChatGPT can already do its magic on local files uploaded by users, but paid customers working with files in the cloud will likely appreciate the upcoming integrations with the cloud storage services from Google and Microsoft.
“Instead of downloading files to your desktop and then uploading them to ChatGPT, you can now add various file types directly from your Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive,” the company explained. “This allows ChatGPT to understand your Google Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint files more quickly.”

OpenAI company made it clear that it’s not using uploaded data from ChatGPT Team and Enterprise customers to train its models. ChatGPT Plus users, however, still need to manually disable model training from the app’s settings.
ChatGPT is adding other enhancements for data analysis, such as a a new expandable view for interacting with tables and charts. Paid users will also be able to customize and download charts for presentations and documents.
Earlier this week, OpenAI also launched a new flagship GPT-4o multi-modal model that’s now available for all users. This new model provides much improved text, audio, and vision capabilities, confirming that OpenAI’s generative AI technology remains miles ahead of the competition. Microsoft already made GPT-4o available in preview on its Azure OpenAI Service for commercial customers, and it will be interesting to see how the company will leverage it to improve its own Copilot offerings.
