macOS Sequoia May Launch Alongside iOS 18 in September

macOS Sequoia

Apple is reportedly planning to release macOS Sequoia a month earlier than usual this year. In recent years, the company has been releasing the annual update for iOS in September, with the new macOS version following in October or November. However, according to a report from MacRumors, macOS Sequoia may be released alongside iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and watchOS 11 in mid-September.

The report suggests that Apple could announce its annual September iPhone event as soon as next week. This is when the company should announce the release date for the annual software updates for all of its platforms. And this year, the release of macOS Sequoia alongside iOS 18 in September could be justified by the presence of a big new Continuity feature.

With iPhone Mirroring, Mac users running macOS Sequoia will be able to view what’s on their iPhones, see their iPhone notifications on their Mac’s Notification Center, and even launch iPhone apps on their Mac by clicking on these notifications. Later this year, Mac users will also be able to drag and drop files, photos, and videos on their iPhones.

iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia will also come with a new standalone Passwords app that will sync passwords across Apple devices, as well as the Apple Vision Pro and Windows PCs. macOS Sequoia will also add new features in Safari, Messages, Notes, and other apps that will also be coming to iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.

Apple Intelligence, a set of generative AI features for recent iPhones, iPads, and Macs is set to be released in October with iOS 18.1, iPadOS 15.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. If the updates are already being tested with developers, Apple Intelligence won’t be launching in the EU this year due to DMA compliance concerns.
