Microsoft Launches Redesigned OneDrive Web App With New People View

Microsoft has started rolling out today a redesigned version of its OneDrive web app for consumers. The app isn’t getting just a fresh coat of paint as it also introduces a new People view and file filters to find content more easily.

“With the updated OneDrive, your content takes center stage. The improved visual design reduces clutter and distractions, allowing you to focus on what’s important – your content,” wrote Miceile Barrett, Principal Product Manager on the OneDrive and Microsoft Lists product.

With the new People View, which is accessible from the left. navigation bar, OneDrive users can now browse file by the people they collaborate with. Each contact in this view will be displayed with a selection of recently shared files.

In the recent view, the file filters will be able to surface recent folders, Word document, Excel spreadsheet, PowerPoint presentation, or PDF files uploaded to OneDrive. After applying a specific filter, it’s also possible to use search to narrow down results.

The last notable update on this new OneDrive web experience is a universal “Add new” button that combines the options to create a new document or upload an existing one to OneDrive. Microsoft said that this redesigned OneDrive web app should be available for all consumers by the end of February.
