Google Meet is getting two big updates this week, one for select Workspace customers and one for all users, including consumers.
The first is an AI-based meeting notes feature called “Take notes for me” that’s rolling out to Google Workspace users with a Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or AI Meetings & Messaging add-on. As you’d expect from the name, Google Meet will automatically take notes during meetings, freeing you to focus on the discussion. When the meeting concludes, Meet will store the notes in the organizer’s Drive storage and attach them to the calendar event everyone used to access the meeting.

“Take notes for me” is rolling out now but could take up to 15 days to appear. It’s available when using Google Meet on a computer (including laptops) and when meetings are conducted in English. But it’s not clear when support for other device types and languages will arrive.
The second update is available to everyone using Google Meet: Now, when you switch to a new tab in Google Chrome, the meeting will automatically appear in a PIP (picture-in-picture) window. (Previously, you had to manually toggle this feature on.) That way, you can take notes, view related documents, or do other work without losing track of the meeting.
Automatic PIP is rolling out now, but it could take a few weeks to appear. You can learn more on the Google Workspace Help website.
