Amazon has kicked off its annual Prime Day event today and the company will be posting new Prime-exclusive deals that will be available until tomorrow, July 17. With Microsoft making Xbox Cloud Gaming available on Fire TV Stick 4K models last week, Amazon is offering
up to 37% discounts on Xbox streaming bundles that include a Fire TV Stick 4K, an Xbox controller, and one month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
The Xbox streaming bundle with a Fire TV Stick 4K is available at $68.99. The regular price for a Fire TV Stick 4K is $49.99, so that’s an extra $19 for the Xbox controller and free month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Similarly, the bundle with the more powerful Fire TV Stick 4K Max is available at $78.99, which is also $19 more than the regular price of the HDMI stick.

These Xbox streaming bundles are a good deal if you’re interested in a Fire TV stick and need an extra Xbox controller. However, keep in mind that after the upcoming Game Pass price increase in September, you’ll need to pay $19.99/month for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate if you want to continue using Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is definitely more valuable if you already have an Xbox console, a PC, or both: Not all Game Pass games are available on Xbox Cloud Gaming (Diablo IV is a high-profile example), and you’ll never get the best gaming experience anyway due to latency and stream compression. Even though the two Fire TV sticks in these bundles support 4K streaming, Xbox Cloud Gaming is still restricted to 1080p.
Microsoft promised right at the beginning of the “Project xCloud” preview public preview that users would be able to stream the games they own at some point. While this promise has yet to materialize, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming teased that this long-awaited feature may finally arrive later this year. In the meantime, streaming Game Pass games on Fire TV sticks, recent Samsung smart TVs, or PCs and mobile devices remains a nice-to-have yet expensive alternative to playing these games locally.
