Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is Coming to Game Pass Tomorrow, July 24

Call of Duty Modern Warfare III Game Pass

It’s been nine months since Microsoft completed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, but the company is finally ready to bring a first Call of Duty game to Game Pass. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, the latest installment of the blockbuster shooter franchise will be available on Xbox Game Pass for Console, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tomorrow, July 24.

This will be the second Activision Blizzard game to join the Game Pass library this year following the addition of Diablo IV in March. While we already know that the next episode, Black Ops 6, will launch on day one on Game Pass on October 24, it will be interesting to see if more Activision Blizzard games get added to the Game Pass library before that date.

For Xbox Game Pass for Console subscribers, a separate Game Pass Core subscription will be required to access the multiplayer modes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. While the announcement on Xbox Wire doesn’t mention it, PC Game Pass members will likely need Blizzard’s Battle.net launcher to get the game, just like Diablo IV before it.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III offers a single-player campaign that follows the events of Modern Warfare II, and it single player campaign, various multiplayer modes with a new progression system, and a new co-op extraction mode with zombies. The Carry Forward feature also allows MWII players to transfer almost of all of their content and weapon progression to MWIII.

Just like Diablo IV, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III won’t be available on Xbox Cloud Gaming. This is the result of Microsoft giving cloud streaming rights for Activision Blizzard games to Ubisoft to get the UK’s CMA to approve its acquisition of Activision Blizzard last year.
