Valve has just announced the Steam Deck OLED, a new version of its handheld gaming PC with a more pleasant OLED screen, a bigger battery, and other iterative updates. This new Steam Deck OLED starts at $549 for the base model with 512GB of storage, and Valve will keep selling the 256GB LCD version for $399 while the 64GB and 512GB versions are being phased out.
“Steam Deck OLED has 30-50% more battery life. We fit a bigger battery into the case, and the OLED display draws less power,” Valve emphasized on the product page.

The 90Hz OLED display on the new Steam Deck is slightly bigger at 7.4 inches (compared to 7 inches on the LCD version), but it keeps the same 1280×800 resolution. The Steam Deck OLED also uses a more efficient AMD APU with a 6nm manufacturing process, but you still get the same horsepower as the original model.
Valve says that the 50Whr battery on the Steam Deck OLED can deliver up to 12 hours of battery life depending on the type of game you’re playing. This new Steam Deck will also run cooler with the inclusion of a bigger fan and an updated thermal design.

According to Valve, this new Steam Deck will download games up to 3 times faster thanks to Wi-Fi 6E support. The device is also 30 grams lighter than the LCD model, and it maintains compatibility with the Steam Deck Docking station.
Valve’s new gaming handheld will be available in the US, Canada, European Union, and United Kingdom, as well as Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan starting November 16. At launch, Valve will restrict purchases to 1 model per account per week, and the company may also introduce a reservation queue if it runs out of this new Steam Deck model.
