Citing multiple sources, master Apple leakmeister Mark Gurman says that the company will announce the iPhone 16 family of smartphones on September 10, in time for a September 20 launch. It will then launch the first M4-based Macs a few months later.

Other than the specific dates, there’s not much other news in the Gurman report, given how much information has leaked already. He notes that this launch is “critical” to Apple, since it “has suffered sluggish sales of its smartphones and wearable devices in recent quarters.” Various sources expect Apple revenues to jump 5 percent in the quarter, which ends at the end of September, and then 7 percent in the next quarter, thanks to the new devices.

Overall, the iPhone 16 family won’t be that different from their predecessors. The Pro models will have larger displays and improved cameras, and the much anticipated Apple Intelligence features won’t begin rolling out until a coming point release to iOS 18. The Apple Watch Series 10 devices will be thinner and feature larger displays, Gurman says, and there will be new AirPods announced at the event.

The first M4-based Macs are a bigger unknown for now. Gurman doesn’t have a specific release date, but his sourced said that the firm is currently testing four new Macs, all based on the entry-level M4 found in the iPad Pro, with 16 or 32 GB of integrated RAM. Bloomberg previously reported that it expects Apple to start off the M4 transition with the MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini, the latter of which will arrive in a much smaller form factor than before.
