SAHRC: Safeguarding South Africa’s Human Rights The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) plays a vital role in upholding the human rights guaranteed in our Constitution, specifically those outlined in Chapter 2—the Bill of Rights. As South Africa's designated national human rights institution, the SAHRC is committed to protecting, promoting and monitoring the realisation of these rights for all. The SAHRC received 6803 complaints and enquires nationally through the 2023/24 financial year. SAHRC implemented 120 initiatives to address systemic human rights violations and 15 litigious matters which involved the Commission. Through direct engagement with the public, the SAHRC raises awareness about these fundamental rights through various outreach programmes, the publication of educational materials and the dissemination of vital information. By empowering people with knowledge, the SAHRC enables every citizen to assert and enforce their rights, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity and respect. Let’s stand together and stay informed. Know your rights and let the SAHRC be your guide in safeguarding them. #BillOfRights Learn more here bit.ly/4eWUXu5
