Future stars of rugby team up for the planet. The CRDC South Africa team is super proud to have initiated our Bag That Builds programme in partnership with South African Rugby Union (SA Rugby) over the last two years. What a remarkable collaboration to take all the plastic waste from Springboks vs Wales, World Cup Sevens and World Rugby U20 Championship matches as well as plastic waste produced at the hotels that housed players and officials around Cape Town and regenerate that plastic waste into our Eco-Aggregate RESIN8. The RESIN8 was then used in the all types of concrete products, including bricks, blocks pavers, ready mix, pipes, kerbs and channels and more in partnership with concrete manufacturers. “In total, when you add up all the tournaments, we’ve collected almost nine tonnes of plastic waste and put it to use,” explained Abraham Avenant, CEO of CRDC South Africa . “That has translated into 85,000 bricks turned into 24 units built in Khayelitsha, Greenville and Eerste Rivier – some of the most under-resourced and disadvantaged areas around Cape Town.” This goes to show that Together we Will Build a Stronger South Africa Together. Creating value from South Africa's plastic by converting it into RESIN8™ an Eco-Additive that improves concrete products
About us
ABOUT CRDC SOUTH AFRICA The Centre for Regenerative Design and Collaboration South Africa’s (CRDC SA) mission is to create appreciating value from un-recyclable, mismanaged plastic waste by converting it into an Eco-Aggregate which facilitates the creation of superior environmentally friendly construction products. In doing so, our strategic aim is to divert all mis-managed and un-recyclable plastic waste from landfill, to collect waste plastic from our environment and cities through our socially beneficial program called The Bag That Builds (TBTB) and to provide employment and business opportunities through strategic collaboration. We have created a groundbreaking new innovative technology that takes all 7 types of plastic waste and turns it into a lightweight Eco-Aggregate, called RESIN8. The replacement of a percentage of natural aggregates with RESIN8 in concrete products proves to add or maintain the strength, reduce weight, and increase the thermal properties of these concrete products. The potential benefits to job creation, our overflowing landfills, the environment, as well as infrastructure development across the African continent are limitless. ABOUT CRDC GLOBAL CRDC’s mission is to create appreciating value from the world’s plastic waste by converting it into RESIN8™, an Eco-Aggregate that improves concrete. Founded in 2018, we currently have operations in Costa Rica, the USA, South Africa, UK, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, and Samoa.

DISCOVER HOW WE CAN USE ALL OUR PLASTIC WASTE TO BUILD A STRONGER SOUTH AFRICA TOGETHER! Explore our CRDC South Africa Impact portfolio below and see how by collaborating across diverse supply-chains we are having a collective positive impact on construction projects, our environment, job creation and communities. The CRDC SA Impact portfolio includes case studies depicting the impact the use of RESIN8 concrete products have on diverting tons of plastic waste from landfill, test results and technical data, a short introduction to our community collection programme called The Bag That Builds and links to articles and videos about RESIN8. Our ground-breaking, innovative green building technology accepts all 7 types of plastic waste & converts it into a lightweight Eco-Aggregate, called RESIN8™️. Concrete products manufactured with a percentage of the natural aggregates replaced with RESIN8™️ maintains its appearance and strength, while these products are lighter, have lower water absorption and better insulation properties. The potential to Regenerate Natural, Social & Built Environments & the positive impact on job creation, our overflowing landfills, the environment & infrastructure development across the African continent are limitless. 🚨 NEW WORK 🚨 Once in a while, a project comes along that transcends advertising. Landfilla™️® for MINI South Africa is one of them. 🔥 One that tossed those involved into the deepest of deep ends and they (by some divine miracle) had to learn everything there is possible to know about civil, structural and chemical engineering (not even close). 🙃 Add in a healthy dose of bureaucratic negotiations for good measure and it all begins to make sense. 🚩 Eighteen months in the making, we set out with one simple task; make driving fun again. 😃 But, we ended up doing something far more important. Thank you for the post. Zero Waste Technologies. To achieve Zero plastic waste to landfill takes collaboration across diverse supply chains. This is just the beginning. CRDC GLOBAL Donald Thomson Abraham Avenant George van der Schyff
🌍 Zero Waste Technologies (ZWT) is proud to lead the way in sustainable innovation at the V&A Waterfront! 🚧♻️ ZWT was appointed by V&A Waterfront and Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator to explore the use of waste products in construction for the new temporary home of the Oranjezicht City Farm Market. This groundbreaking initiative incorporates RESIN8, a revolutionary building aggregate made from waste plastic, into the concrete slab—making it the first of its kind at the V&A Waterfront! By collaborating with CRDC SOUTH AFRICA, Omega Concrete, and Framecore (Pty) Ltd, 2.4 tons of waste plastic was integrated into the concrete, diverting the equivalent of 1.2 million chip packets from landfill! 🌿 The result? 💪 A concrete slab with 45MPa strength, exceeding the required standard, demonstrating that sustainable materials can meet the highest structural requirements. At ZWT, we believe in transforming waste into valuable resources and are committed to advancing the circular economy. This project not only showcases how innovative materials can support greener cities and sustainable communities, but it also highlights our role as leaders in the industry. Follow us to see how Zero Waste Technologies is redefining the future of waste solutions and construction.🌱🏗️ #ZeroWasteTechnologies #SustainableInnovation #CircularEconomy #WasteToResource #EcoFriendlyConstruction #RESIN8 #PlasticRecycling #SustainableDevelopment #BuildingTheFuture #GreenerCities

Regenerating using ocean bound waste plastic to build a Better Future for All with RESIN8 Eco-Aggregate. Great to see how CRDC GLOBAL Corporación Pedregal Habitat for Humanity International are collaborating. Huge congratulations from CRDC SOUTH AFRICA
🥳 This is what innovation looks like! It started as ocean-bound plastic waste in an urban tributary of Costa Rica’s most polluted river. It was intercepted by a river boom at Corporación Pedregal in San Jose, hauled out by volunteers from World Wide Technology, sorted to remove recyclables, and transferred to CRDC GLOBAL for regeneration into #RESIN8 green building materials. In this case it became RESIN8 BASE, a zero-waste synthetic aggregate that ERASES the carbon footprint of sending plastic waste for disposal in landfills or incinerators 🌎 Added to concrete products like bricks, pavers, and dry mix, it makes them lighter, more durable, and more insulating than traditional materials 💪 And for us in 🇬🇹 Guatemala? This RESIN8 came from Costa Rica, but it can be safely and affordably manufactured anywhere there is plastic waste in need of responsible disposal (which is everywhere 👀). Just a single plant in Guatemala City would be capable to responsibly dispose of ALL the nonrecyclable plastics pulled from #RioLasVacas and position Guatemala builders to lead the circular economy in construction in Central America and the world! This shipment is headed for Habitat for Humanity Guatemala, and will be used to pour 5 new concrete floors for families living with dirt floors. Concrete floors make rural homes healthier, especially for children, and with RESIN8 the concrete will also be more insulating. Check out #100MilPisoParaJugar if you don’t already know this incredible program. And stay tuned for more exciting developments for plastic recovery and management with RESIN8™️ here in Guatemala!
