The African Group on Earth Observations AfriGEO is a geospatial platform designed to provide geographic information system (GIS) resources and data for the African continent. Powered by Esri, it facilitates access to various tools, including maps, spatial analytics, and data sets. The platform promotes collaboration among governments, businesses, researchers, and the public to address regional challenges such as urban planning, environmental conservation, and infrastructure development. The platform supports various sectors by providing GIS solutions to improve decision-making processes across industries like agriculture, disaster management, and health services. It also enables users to create custom maps, perform spatial analysis, and leverage shared data to drive better outcomes. In addition to offering GIS tools, AfriGEO fosters a community for geospatial professionals and enthusiasts in Africa. AfriGEO collaborates with Digital Earth Africa to create knowledge packages, and is a supporter of the African Earth Observation Challenge since 2021. It promotes education and awareness through training, webinars, and events to encourage the growth and adoption of geospatial technology across the continent. It initiates training aimed at ensuring adequate transfer of space technology and its application, provides leadership in the implementation of all capacity building programmes on space science and technology and promotes peaceful uses of space science applications including but not limited to satellite earth observations, navigation, telecommunication and disaster management. Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development RCMRD programmes are oriented towards sustainable applications in natural resource management, infrastructure and environmental management utilizing geo-information technologies. The vision of the organisation is to strengthen the member states and our stakeholders’ capacity through the generation, application and dissemination of geo-information and allied technologies for sustainable development. Agency for Aerial Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar The Agency for Aerial Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA - https://www.asecna.aero/) is an air traffic management organisation that manages 16.1 million square kilometres of airspace, covering six African Flight Information Regions (FIRs) – Antananarivo, Brazzaville, Dakar (oceanic and terrestrial), Niamey and N’Djamena. ASECNA operates air traffic control centres in each of these cities and provides aviation and related information, specifications, aeronautical services and training.
