Congratulations to Annah Kgaswane, Implats’ Group Head of Environment and Murendeni Makhado, Implats’ Corporate Water Specialist for being recognised as 2024 Women in Mining Sustainability Heroes at the Women in Mining International Women’s Day breakfast hosted by the Minerals Council of South Africa on 6 March. Under the theme “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,” the event celebrated women’s remarkable contributions in mining and their efforts in driving sustainability in the sector. The 2024 Sustainability Heroes are nominated by their peers and represent the female trailblazers in sustainability in mining. #Implats

For the sixth consecutive year, Implats Group runners dominated the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge, which took place in Johannesburg last night. Bravo to our elite runner, Samuel Matsepe, who took first place, crossing the finish line in a blistering 17:20, followed shortly by team member and former Comrades Marathon winner Edward “Slender” Mothibi in 17:35. Our elite running squad, which includes Comrades legend, David Gatebe, took seven of the top 10 positions. Implats fielded 136 runners who completed last night’s challenge. Congratulations to the full team and thank you to our elite runners and our coaches for extending this incredible winning streak. #JPMCC

CDP, the independent environmental disclosure agency, has reaffirmed the Implats Group’s ‘A-’ rating for water security risk management, reflecting our excellent transparency on water disclosure and performance. Dr Tsakani Mthombeni, Implats Executive for Sustainable Development, said: “We are delighted to again be recognised by the CDP for our water disclosures in 2024. We carefully manage this precious resource, and it is pleasing our efforts are recognised via this high ranking relative to the sector and our peers.” The CDP water disclosure score encourages companies to progress their environmental stewardship practices through benchmarking and peer comparisons, to continuously improve water governance. #Implats
