Experienced pavement engineers and specialists in Bitumen Stabilised Materials and road recycling.
About us
Loudon International is an independent consulting engineering firm that actively participates in pavement rehabilitation projects, worldwide, specialising in the application of recycling and bitumen stabilisation technology. The firm achieves this through engagement with industry organisations, client bodies, consulting engineers and contractors to promote and utilise recycling as the preferred approach to rehabilitating distressed pavements. Assistance is provided in assessing specific projects, designing a recycling solution and in the construction activities where material is recycled from existing pavements. This is essentially a “technology transfer” service whereby local engineers work with and learn from the Loudon International specialists assigned to the project, allowing them to become acquainted with the technology so that they can continue unassisted with future work.

🚧 Throwback to this challenging project deep in the Algerian desert! 🌍 800 km from Algier, a vital roadway with an 8 m width and ageing sand and bitumen layers had succumbed to heavy goods vehicles. The solution? A cold recycling method to modernise 15 km of the road, improving its bearing capacity with minimal disruption. 🔬 Preliminary investigations identified 2.5% cationic bitumen emulsion and 1.1% water as optimal binders. Injected into the recycler, the existing pavement was rejuvenated to a depth of 110 mm. 🚜 After careful grading, a 15-ton vibratory roller compacted the road to perfection. The result? A road transformed. A testament to the success that Loudon International bring to the industry of sustainable road pavement engineering 🌱. #loudoninternational #wirtgen #sustainableroad #engineering

We are very excited to be a small part of this exciting new chapter in road rehabilition in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia!
𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗹𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁🚧🌱 Saudi Arabia has experienced rapid industrialization and growth, leading to high traffic volumes and accelerated road wear. Asphalt cold recycling is therefore gaining more importance. The Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services (MOT) actively supports the use of this sustainable technology, which minimizes waste and reduces the environmental impact of roadworks. 🌿 Methods like Bitumen Stabilized Materials (BSM) and Cold In-Place Recycling (CIR) breathe new life into old roads, save costs, and promote sustainability. 🚧🔄 1️⃣ 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: Recycling existing materials reduces the need for new raw materials and heavy machinery, delivering a quick return on investment. 💰 2️⃣ 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Reusing materials minimizes waste and drastically reduces our carbon footprint, contributing to a better future. ♻️ Together with Loudon International and Bakheet Machinery بخيــت المعـدات we have visited various projects across Saudi Arabia to assess road conditions and achieve the best results. Many damages are due to sun exposure, UV radiation, and high temperatures, while others show structural damage caused by increased traffic and heavy loads. ☀️🌡️🚛 We at WIRTGEN are leaders in the field of cold recycling for roads. Our cold recycling process has proven itself in the field for years and already meets tomorrow’s requirements today.🛣️ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀? Reviving Romania's first motorway: Loudon International's cold recycling technology breathes new life into the historic Bucharest-Pitești road. 🛣 In 2003, the iconic Bucharest-Pitești road, Romania's first motorway, was expertly rejuvenated by Loudon International using advanced cold recycling. With precision, a Wirtgen W 2200 granulated the old concrete for a transformative mix of foamed bitumen and cement. Following meticulous grading for the distribution of the granulated concrete to establish the correct crossfall and profile, the Wirtgen recycling train took over. It milled the granulated layer, integrating foamed bitumen and cement slurry, then compacted with rollers for a durable, revitalised road ready for the future. This project marked another milestone in road construction, merging legacy with modern technology. #ColdRecycling #InfrastructureInnovation #LoudonInternational #BSM #WIRTGEN
