Water conservation in packaging manufacturing. In today's world, sustainability isn't just a buzzword—it's a necessity. As a packaging manufacturer, we play a crucial role in conserving one of our most precious resources: water. We are proud to share that we've surpassed our water usage targets per tonne of packaging produced for the past two years, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable practices. World Water Week serves as a global reminder of the importance of conserving this scarce resource. Let's continue to innovate and lead by example in our industry. #Mpact #MpactGroup #Sustainability #WaterConservation #Packaging #WorldWaterWeek #CorporateResponsibility #Innovation

About us
Mpact is the largest paper and plastics packaging and recycling business in southern Africa, employing 5,095 people and generated revenue of R12.8bn in the 2023 financial year. Our footprint: The Group operates across 43 sites, comprising 24 manufacturing sites, and 15 recycling operations. Proximity to our customers contributes to faster response times, reduces transport costs, and creates economies of scale. Our integrated business model is uniquely focused on closing the loop in plastic and paper packaging through recycling and the beneficiation of recyclables. Our strong customer relationships, the thorough understanding of the industries they operate in, and our commitment to innovation allow us to continue creating fit-for-purpose sustainable packaging solutions as well as value-added services that anticipate our customers’ needs. Mpact remains South Africa’s largest collector of recyclable packaging, having collected 594 million/kg of recyclables (paper, glass, beverage cans, plastic, and liquid board packaging) from pre- and post-consumer streams in 2023. By closing the loop on paper and plastic, we not only reduce the amount of material going to landfill, but also promote the local beneficiation of raw materials and support the development of SMMEs.

To encourage the recycling of bottle caps and increase the chances of them being recycled, we replaced the printed branding with an embossed recycling message. Removing the ink reduces carbon emissions created during printing and, because ink is a contaminant, this improves a cap’s recyclability too. So, while it may seem like a small change, the scale of its impact is exponential and ensures that we move ever closer to a circular economy. #circulareconomy #mpactplastics #smartsustainablesolutions #mpact #sustainability #closures #caps #bottlecaps #plasticbottlecaps #sustainableclosures #circularthinking #packaging #sustainable Mpact Limited

“The future belongs to our youth” Nelson Mandela Mpact is dedicated to fostering youth development. Each year, we welcome young learners into the company where they are offered opportunities in skills development and work experience through our apprentice and learnership programmes, contributing to the enhancement of the industry-relevant skills pool. More than 90% of participants in these programmes come from previously disadvantaged backgrounds, with 28% being black women. In addition to this, we extend educational support by providing bursaries to the children of our employees. This not only empowers the younger generation but also opens avenues for them to pursue their aspirations.
