Mpact Recycling is the collection arm of Mpact that drives the circular economy.
About us
As the leading waste collector in South Africa, Mpact Recycling, part of the Mpact Group collects and receives approximately 600,000 tonnes of recyclables per annum. This includes recovered paper, cardboard, plastic, glass and cans. All recovered paper material is supplied to our Mpact paper mills to be manufactured back into paper. This is then used to manufacture innovative board products, which are sold to the South African packaging industry. Other collected materials are sold to other recycling industry partners for processing into products and packaging. We have 14 of our own operations in major centres nationwide and have partnered with over 40 buy-back centres who supply their waste paper and plastic to us for remuneration; as well as working with numerous suppliers countrywide. Thus giving us a national footprint. Our recycling footprint doesn't end there, we also acquired Remade in 2016. We run numerous collection programmes via residential estates and offices - not only do these initiatives raise recycling awareness and create income opportunities but push recycling levels to new heights. It’s part of our mission to develop practical, economically viable and environmentally sustainable solutions that bring us, and the world, closer to a true circular economy.

It's International E-Waste Day! International E-Waste Day was established in 2018 by the WEEE Forum to raise awareness about the growing environmental challenges posed by electronic waste. With millions of tonnes of e-waste generated each year, the day highlights the importance of proper recycling and reuse of electronic devices. The initiative aims to encourage individuals, businesses, and governments to take responsibility for managing e-waste, promoting sustainable practices, and reducing the impact of hazardous materials on the environment and human health. Each year, the day brings global attention to the urgent need for action in tackling this waste crisis. By recycling your old electronics, you help recover materials that could go toward making even more advanced electronics. Most importantly, you reduce the amount of toxic chemicals being sent to landfill. If you have old electronics, don’t just chuck it in the bin. Explore private waste management companies that specialise in e-waste like Mpact Waste Management, or take it to a recycling centre that accepts it. Remember; it’s not waste until its thrown away. Recycling is easy. Get it sorted. Recycling is simpler than you think. Just follow some easy steps and it’s sorted. ♻️ Whether you’re flipping the top of your pedal bin or tossing a ball of paper into your waste basket, take a step back. Then, sort plastic bottles and long-life milk cartons from the rest of your household waste. You can do this using a bag or bin set aside for recyclable packaging. Make it easier to recycle by rinsing, flattening and putting the cap back on. Not only does it remove contaminants, it saves you loads of space. Doing this once or twice a week, takes a few minutes but could buy valuable time in the race against South African landfills reaching capacity.

Today is National River Clean-Up Day – one of the key days in National Clean-up and Recycle Week! It’s dedicated to keeping our rivers waste-free, ensuring they remain vibrant and healthy for both the affected wildlife and surrounding communities. On National River Clean-Up Day, volunteers across the country come together to tackle litter and debris along riverbanks, contributing to improved water quality and a cleaner environment. To contribute, get some gloves and some plastic bags, gather as many hands as you can, and head on over to your nearest river to pick up some waste. It's a straightforward yet powerful way to make a tangible difference. #MpactRecycling #NationalCleanUpAndRecyclingWeek #RecyclingHeroes
