A perfectionist when it comes to numbers, Janine is eager to enhance her expertise while contributing to our growth and being part of our exciting story. Our new People Support Practitioner Nathier Pietersen was attracted by Pepkor Payments and Lending being part of the Pepkor Group, with its reputation as one of South Africa’s leading brands. He’s looking forward to learning and growing with us, using his role to fuel his passion for investing and empowering people. Katijah Aboobaker is our new People Support Administrator. As we conclude our #WomensMonth celebration, we asked Business Manager: Credit, Vanessa Mentile, to share her thoughts on the importance of having role models, achieving a healthy work-life balance, and fostering an inclusive workplace. Vanessa finds inspiration from many female role models, each giving her diverse perspectives and insights. “I find having multiple role models is not only a source of inspiration, it also helps me see a range of possibilities and approaches to different challenges, enriching understanding and navigating my own path with more confidence. Balancing work and life is vital for me. My approach to work is to focus on prioritising tasks, setting clear boundaries, and balance that with practicing self-care – something I learned early on when being part of the team that launched Document Vetting in Operations at Capfin in 2015. My love for learning and sharing knowledge led to creating various processes and procedures that’s still in use today. I also designed and facilitated refresher training for various teams, where I learned how important time-blocking can be in making the best use of available time. To create a positive, inclusive environment, I believe in fostering open communication, providing support and mentorship, and encouraging collaboration. "It's important that everyone feels valued and can thrive," I say. For a woman leader, resilience is key. It helps us navigate challenges and persist despite obstacles."
