Yesterday, we had the privilege of taking 20 top-performing Grade 11 & 12 students from the Maths & Science stream at Prudens Secondary School to explore careers in aviation. The purpose of this field trip was to take them out of their usual learning environment and introduce them to real-world opportunities. Students engaged with industry professionals, gaining first-hand insights into what it takes to work in aviation while expanding their understanding of the wide range of possibilities available to them in this industry. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the SACAA for coordinating this enriching experience and to the team at Lanseria International Airport for generously sharing their expertise with our learners. Some students have already expressed a keen interest in pursuing careers such as aeronautical engineering, aircraft maintenance engineering, and other roles they were previously unaware of. On 16 October 2024, the SACAA's Airport Tour Show & Tell series marked the final day, where we visited a sixth airport, closing off our tour. Learners from Avoca township in the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality had an incredible opportunity to explore airport operations and aviation careers at King Shaka International Airport (KSIA). A huge thank you to ACSA and KMIA for hosting the learners and supporting this inspiring initiative. Fun Fact! KSIA opened its doors on May 1, 2010—just 41 days before the 2010 FIFA World Cup! This modern airport replaced the Durban International Airport as the main gateway to the region. It has earned numerous awards for its outstanding service and facilities, making it one of the best airports in Africa. #FutureAviators #OctoberTransportMonth #KSIA #KMIA
