The true worth of a social investment lies in its outcomes. In partnership with Tshikululu Social Investments, an international company in the film and television industry invested in the development of young creatives in South Africa. The South Deep Education Trust (SDET) is excited to announce the bursary programme, designed to support students from the South Deep mine’s host and labour-sending areas. The 2024 9th SAMEA biennial conference is a primary platform for fostering the growth of a vibrant Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) community in South Africa and increasing the use of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) as valuable tools for achieving equitable and sustainable development. The conference offers a unique opportunity for M&E practitioners, government officials, donors, and policymakers to learn from leading experts and peers, sharing insights on new developments within the M&E field. The theme for the conference, “Vuca-Vuka! Catalysing Change Through Monitoring and Evaluation”, highlights the necessity of proactively responding to our world’s volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) nature. The uncertainties and volatilities of the last several years call for us to wake up – Siyavuka sisebenzele ikusasa elingcono. Our hope is that the SAMEA conference will inspire and capacitate participants to adopt adaptive, collaborative, and innovative approaches to their M&E practice that will help us collectively steer South Africa towards equitable and sustainable development. Tshikululu is excited to be participating in the conference and is represented by the M&E team Lebohang Letsela, who is participating as a strand colead and session moderator for the M&E for Investing in Impact/ Measuring Impact Conference Strand. Prinesa Reddy successfully delivered 2 engaging presentations under this strand and shared on achievements and lessons learned from social impact assessments conducted in 2024 for health and education interventions.
