This is a very important point. "For countries like Kenya, where livestock is deeply embedded in livelihoods and culture, it is critical for UN meetings to see these farm animals from our perspective and help channel climate and biodiversity finance into its potential as a force for good." https://lnkd.in/eA3niN2r

This is such great WOOL research by Manteco and University of Leeds. Knitted wool fabrics have the potential to be recycled in a closed loop multiple times. The study also "demonstrated that mechanical recycling has a minimal impact on the tensile strength of wool fibers. Tests indicated that, after being recycled, wool fibers retain over 92% of their strength compared to their initial values (essentially unchanged), confirming the durability and quality of the recycled material." cc Cape Wools SA Mohair South Africa https://lnkd.in/dD8YSmRQ

It's been almost six weeks since our Africa Textile Talks 2024. We love putting this event together. We love connecting with people who are passionate about textiles, fashion and a positive future. Thursday 14 August was a day of information, riveting talks, an exhibition of textiles and fibres grown, spun and woven in Africa. We have started to plan for 2025. Want to join us on this journey? Thank you to Claire Keeton for your #SundayTimes story (link below / behind a paywall). And thank you to all our partners. Thank you Mungo thank you for this lovely story. #AfricaTextileTalks2024
In August we were pleased to attend the second edition of the African Textile Talks hosted by Twyg and Imiloa Collective – a 3-day event that connects an inspiring and resilient network of growers, makers and designers, who are exploring the future of fashion and textiles through the lens of sustainable development. As the world rapidly changes, and the push to build resilient, people and planet-safe systems becomes imperative, it’s easy to become apathetic. But connecting with forward-thinkers and industry changemakers energises and inspires the playing field - thank you to Twyg, organiser Jackie May, and The African Textile Talks for helping pave the way. One of the multiple magical moments of Africa Textile Talks 2024. We'll share more over the next few days. Thanks for your support Kim Gush
An emotional morning in conversation with Siviwe James and Erica de Greef of AFRI on listening differently and making new kinds of knowledge visible. IMPORTANT work that is happening. Thank you Twyg for hosting a platform where we can listen. Jackie May
