  • From a giant festive tree that honours Cape Town’s threatened African penguin colonies and a magical fynbos garden filled with flower fairies, to an enchanted cable car, a galaxy of enormous, glittering stars and a snowflake selfie stage, V&A Waterfront’s ‘Joy from Africa to the World’ campaign is a visual festival of creativity.   This year’s fabulous installations have been brought to life by a stand-out team of 33 talented makers and suppliers that includes individual artists and designers, NPOs and job creation projects, and manufacturers, fabricators and builders. It was a massive collective effort to create magic between the mountain and the sea, with gorgeous contributions from the likes of African Art Centre, Cape Town Society for the Blind, Embrace Collective, Keiskamma Art Project and many, many more.   Running through the installations are beautiful key visuals and illustrations from Joh Del, Sinenhlanhla Chauke of Studio 99 Perspective and Bonolo Chepape of Lulasclan, who is no stranger to the annual campaign having won a Gold Loerie Award for previous illustrations for ‘Joy from Africa to the World’.   Our holiday campaign is truly a celebration of the best of local creativity. We are deeply grateful to all our makers and are proud to pay homage to African creatives, and the incredible craft and design heritage of our continent.   And it’s all here, waiting for you to marvel at it. This Cape Town celebration is for everyone! Come and enjoy the magical atmosphere that comes alive in a city unlike any other.   Our main ‘Joy from Africa to the World’ installations will remain in place until New Year’s Eve, which gives you another chance to return for a magical fireworks display to bring in 2025 in the most spectacular way. • Over the past six years, 187 local businesses have been commissioned to create the enchanting large-scale installations that make up our annual ‘Joy from Africa to the World’ festive campaign.   Far more than just a set of festive decorations, ‘Joy from Africa to the World’ has become an award-winning movement pioneered by the V&A Waterfront which creates long-term meaningful change through job creation and skills development.   In addition to benefitting Cape Town’s creative economy, particularly local employment projects and small businesses, the end result is a much-loved spectacle that brings joy and magic from one of Africa’s most visited destinations to the rest of the globe.   ‘Joy from Africa to the World’ celebrates sustainable local creativity to delight and inspire visitors throughout the holidays and stands proud as a rousing mission statement embodying the V&A Waterfront’s shared value ethos.   Come along and experience the magic that lies between the mountain and the sea and witness how one transformative idea – to create a relevant and representative festive celebration – can grow to benefit many. • Now in their sixth joyous year, the ‘Joy from Africa to the World’ holiday celebrations at the V&A Waterfront are marked by a captivating and impactful display of local ingenuity.   Since 2019 we’ve been enlisting African artists, designers and makers to express what a festive season here at the tip of the continent can mean. The annual award-winning campaign has become a Cape Town must-see!   This year, the heartwarming theme of ‘Between the Mountain and the Sea’ threads through a series of jaw-droppingly beautiful large-scale displays. Visitors can go on a magical journey that stretches from the top of Table Mountain to the depths of the Atlantic Ocean with installations of light, colour and movement showcasing Mother Nature’s splendour and the Mother City’s wonder.   We invite you to witness this incredible spectacle, which is on display at various locations throughout the neighbourhood, including the Victoria Wharf Mall, Watershed, Clock Tower, Silo District, Battery Park and more.   To see all the amazing installations, it’s best to get here before 31 December 2024. Enjoy! In the meantime, discover more magic here: https://lnkd.in/dCxvt5bs #joyfromafrica #festive #festiveseason #mothercity #vandawaterfront #waterfront

And that’s not all – the iconic Union Castle Building has officially reopened! Following a thoughtful heritage-focused revamp, this historic 1919 landmark now hosts the award-winning Marble restaurant, Swedish outdoor brand Thule, Wedgewood, and Nike Apparel. Here’s to honouring our past while creating meaningful new experiences! https://lnkd.in/da8vZF4X
