Last week, we conducted a judging site visit at Conlog with IGreen Consulting
Last week, we had the privilege of accompanying WastePlan at a judging site visit conducted at Conlog, a South African company that provides smart metering solutions. Conlogs’ metering solutions help their customers with utility management, revenue enhancement, load management and demand management, focusing on big data analytics and smart grid solutions. But that’s not all, Conlog is also a candidate for the 2024 KZN Waste Management Awards hosted by the IWMSA - Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa! The site visit was conducted by three esteemed judges Chris Whyte (Circular Economy Specialist ACEN Foundation) ,Ms. Natasha Williams (Independent Consultant) & Ntuthuko Makhubu (KZN EDTEA). Conlog showcased exceptional waste management practices including impressive innovations in the design and development of their products that speak to sustainability and design for recyclability. It was inspiring to see firsthand the innovative solutions they’ve implemented to promote sustainability and environmental stewardship. IGreen Consulting were honored to be a part of the journey with Conlog and Wasteplan. As the strategic waste management partner, Wasteplan has yet again done exceptionally well in actively helping their clients reduce waste through innovative solutions and sustainable waste management practices. From effective recycling initiatives to community engagement programs, Conlog is setting a remarkable example in the industry. The site has achieved a 7% increase in recycling over a period of 12 months and achieved their short-term recycling target of 85% measured between June – Sep 2024. This milestone is a testament to ongoing efforts and innovative strategies in waste management. My key takeaways from the session: - Collaboration drives meaningful change - No industry is exempt from sustainable waste management. - It’s the small actions that collectively shape a sustainable future Wishing Conlog all the best in the awards! May their achievements inspire others to strive for a waste-free future. Did you know the first logo for the circular economy (♻) was created back in 1989 by Walter Stahel and the Product-Life Institute? Recycling has deep roots, dating back to ancient civilisations! The Greeks and Romans recycled glass and metal, while the Egyptians repurposed materials like papyrus. In the Middle Ages, Europe continued recycling due to resource limitations, and in the 1970s environmental movement sparked modern recycling initiatives. At WastePlan, we’re proud to continue this legacy with innovative recycling services designed to help businesses and individuals reduce their environmental impact. Is your business ready to make a lasting change? Let's partner up and redesign your waste management plan to embrace a circular economy!
