Yesterday, I successfully defended my habilitation—a journey that has been both challenging and deeply rewarding. The colloquium included two talks close to my heart: 🎓 A lecture for bachelor students on The Role of Mass Transfer in Downstream Processing of Biologics. 🔬 Platform-Agnostic Downstream Processing featuring the CASPON® platform and what lies beyond. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support I’ve received along the way. To my students, colleagues, and collaborators: thank you for your guidance, inspiration, and encouragement throughout this journey. You’ve all played a crucial role in shaping my work and making this milestone a reality. I’m especially grateful to everyone who attended the defense, both in person and online, during this busy time of year—it truly means a lot. As I reflect on this moment, I look forward to continuing to contribute to the field and collaborating with this wonderful community of scientists and engineers.

𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 🦋 🐛 During my PhD, I was working with insect cells and the baculovirus vector expression system to produce virus-like particles - a promising platform for (not only) vaccine development. This work resulted in two publications: 1️⃣ Developing a resource-efficient production process for baculovirus, scalable for large-scale applications. 2️⃣ Purifying enveloped particles, such as baculoviruses, using non-woven fibers - a novel approach to address the challenges of bionanoparticle purification. 🧪 Purification remains one of the most demanding aspects of vaccine development, but innovative methods like non-woven fibers can open new possibilities for the field. 👩🔬 👨🔬 A huge thank you to my colleagues and Co-authors Patrícia, Nico, Peter, Miriam, Alois, Tobias, Magdalena, Osamah and Martina for their invaluable contributions and collaboration! 📄 You can read the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/d9iW8EVM ✨ Stay tuned for the upcoming manuscript! 🏠 Next stop: 𝟯𝗗 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆
