SOS Children’s Villages travelled last week with a delegation of the Child Rights Action Group to Strasbourg for the first plenary of the 2024-2029 European Parliament. One of the main objectives of the visit was to gather support from newly elected Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) to reestablish the Intergroup on Children’s Rights. The Intergroup on Children’s Rights – which is a transnational and transparty group - is crucial to ensure the rights of #children are mainstreamed in all #EU legislative processes and funding decisions. In this context, we organized with Missing Children Europe, Save the Children Europe, UNICEF EU, and World Vision EU Representation a meet and greet with members of the European Parliament to call for the promotion and protection of children’s rights within and outside the EU. We were delighted that around 20 MEPs joined us to discuss how to advance children’s rights together. Thank you very much for your commitment to leave no child behind. We look forward to working with you throughout the mandate. 📣 We call on all Members of the European Parliament to show their support to reestablish the Intergroup on Children’s Rights. As co-chair of the Child Rights Action group, SOS Children’s Villages attended the first plenary of the European Parliament in Strasbourg this week. This visit was organized in the context of the #VoteforChildren campaign with colleagues from Missing Children Europe, Save the Children Europe, UNICEF EU, and World Vision EU Representation to ensure #childrenrights remain a political priority of the #EU in the coming legislature. It was a great opportunity to meet with newly elected Members of the European Parliament and representatives of the political groups to discuss how to work together to make sure no child is left behind in and outside the EU. We shared the #ChildRightsManifesto for #MEPs to become Child Rights Champions and commit to protect and promote the rights of children throughout their mandate. Representatives of the European Parliament also received the results of the Europe Kids Want survey that gathered the views of more than 9200 children on what the EU should prioritize. 👉 Learn more about #ChildRightsManifesto, #VoteforChildren and #EUKidsWant: https://lnkd.in/eWCrGh8v
