Sustainable Technologies for Reducing Europe’s bAttery raw MaterialS dependance

Info

STREAMS (Sustainable Technologies for Reducing Europe’s bAttery raw MaterialS dependence) is a groundbreaking Research and Innovation Actions project, funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe Programme (Grant Agreement No 101137771). Spearheaded by the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT, Austria), this initiative brings together a collaborative network of 15 Partners from 10 countries, encompassing Austria, Belgium, Norway, Greece, Ireland, Ukraine, Poland, Turkey, Spain, and Finland, with a project duration of 36 months. The core objective of STREAMS is to develop, evaluate, and successfully demonstrate a comprehensive portfolio of at least 12 scalable and flexible technologies and pilot-scale solutions. These innovations aim to foster the sustainable production of battery-grade precursors, along with their corresponding anode and cathode active materials. The project adopts a holistic approach, encompassing materials from both primary and secondary sources, including recycled battery mass and photovoltaic waste. By doing so, STREAMS seeks to fortify Europe’s domestic battery materials supply chain, reducing dependency on imported critical and strategic raw materials.
