Digital Agrifood Summit Day 2 💡 Another fantastic day! We’re so lucky to have such a fantastic event right on our doorstep. From embracing AI, decarbonising agriculture, to verifying sustainability, all the big discussions in the one place, with the right people. 👉 We begun with CEO of Farmers for Climate Action, Natalie Collard, highlighting that climate change isn’t a problem for the future. “It’s impacting farmers now,” citing a $30,000 per year cost from adverse weather events. 👉 And finished on a high with an interactive session ‘Farm Office of the Future’. Professor David Lamb acted as the farmer of the future, demonstrating how AI across 5 areas can help improve farm management decisions into the future. 🐏 Forecasting with AgriWebb, Dr Kenny Sabir, spoke about making decisions based upon pasture availability, stocking rates and paddock rotations. 🐄 Animal Management/Welfare with Matt Shaffer, Data Gene, on clinical mastitis identification in dairy cows. Reducing antibiotic use for mastitis by 40-60%. 📈 Data Management with Hamish Munro, Pairtree Intelligence, on real life solutions. Bringing together data across various platforms to make informed decisions on farm. 🚛 Traceability with Lisa Barrios, Cibo Labs Pty Ltd on enabling, accessing and reporting data. Field day of the Digital Agrifood Summit in Wagga-Wagga was very insightful. I enjoyed chatting and learning about some great Australian AgTech companies (Cibo Labs Pty Ltd, FarmLab, AgriWebb, Pairtree Intelligence, etc) leveraging innovations like AI, IoT, data analytics and remote-sensing and embracing technology as a key driver of a more sustainable future. Great expert panel discussions on agriculture data management, cropping, livestock management and sustainability. Drones technology was front and centre with live demos of LiDAR equipped robot dogs, giant spraying quadcopters and hydrogen-powered drones. Many opportunities for SmartSat CRC to cooperate on agriculture research projects leveraging EO satellite technology. What a day! Some of the best days working for AgriWebb are those spent on the ranch, seeing our software and team in action. Yesterday, David O'Brien and I had the pleasure of spending the day with Kevin Miller and his team at Croissant Red Angus. Our goals were to ensure that his new herd manager could ask product questions and provide valuable feedback on ways we can continue improving our software. We also gave Kevin and his team the opportunity to test out our new Grazing Chart and Rotational Planner. 🎉 To make the most of our trip, Loren Brinton graciously joined us to capture photos, footage, and interviews to support some exciting projects we'll be launching soon.

Fascinating to see that McKinsey & Company's new survey of global farmers highlights productivity as the priority goal for farmers, "whether through agriculture technologies (agtech) for improving operations, biological products, or sustainable practices." They also find that this interest in productivity, along with concerns about input costs, is motivating producers to adopt more sustainable practices that reduce dependence on inputs and boost yields. Tech adoption is also increasing as producers leverage software to track new practices and impacts on their bottomline. Looking ahead, the study recommends that tech companies help producers implement and profit from sustainable practices, including through data collection and GHG reporting. This need is the key motivator underlying our sustainability programs at AgriWebb, helping producers improve their productivity and climate resilience and be paid for reduced emissions using a carbon insetting model. While this report focused on crop farmers, AgriWebb's own annual survey of grazers around the world similarly finds producers to be concerned about input prices, using technology to improve their operations, and interested in sustainable practices that can improve their businesses.
