An energy provider with a mission to shift Aus to 100% renewables faster. Go beyond offsetting and use more renewables ⚡

About us

Founded in 2017 by Chris Thompson and Dan Adams, Amber gives customers dynamic power prices that change depending on the real wholesale value of energy. Customers can pay less by charging your battery when energy is greener and cheaper as well as earn more by exporting when prices increase. Combined with Amber's smart tech, solar and battery owners have the power to supercharge their savings, take control of their battery and make their energy work harder for them. Amber is backed by some of Australia’s best accelerators and investors, including EnergyLab (Australia’s leading energy accelerator) and Startmate (Australia’s leading tech accelerator). Investors include Blackbird, Square Peg, Main Sequence, Commonwealth Bank and Black Sheep Capital. The company has won Startup Vic’s Impact Pitch Night, for the best startup focused on making a positive social impact and been named Victorian Start-up of the Year.

I’m delighted to share that I have joined Amber Electric as VP Business Development. Amber is an Australian tech company on a mission to shift the world to 100% renewables. The business is re-writing the traditional utility model around customers: giving them the tools to automate their home batteries, Solar, EVs etc. and capture the full trading value, leading to lower household bills. If you’re not familiar with Amber, here are some highlights: 🐣 💰 Born in 2017 now with >$75mn backing 🔋 🚗 40k subscription customers, growing 100%yoy ☀ 🏆 50% market share of new battery optimisation in Australia 🏠 📉 $1000s dollars saved per home, per year It's been a treat getting to know founders Dan Adams & Christopher Thompson, and their team Neil Luo, Emily Rubin, 💽John Barton & Darren Betts. I'm grateful for the opportunity to join such a talented group and help take Amber's beautiful tech to new markets globally 🚀. It’s already been a huge year as we push ahead with our mission to shift Australia - and, starting this year, the world 🌏 - to 100% renewable energy! 😎 The second annual AmberCon was a chance to learn, laugh, and hear some fascinating lightning talks from members of the team, leaving us all feeling engaged, entertained and energised for what comes next. With 2024 seeing us welcome our biggest cohort of new employees ever, there was no better time to talk about how far we’ve come and the exciting times we have ahead of us, as we look towards the launch of our EV charging product 🚗 and the start of Amber’s international push 🚀. In between, we were lucky enough to split into groups for a spot of gardening, axe-throwing, painting in the dark and breathwork 🤩 ⚡ Thanks to our customers, Andre Obradovic, Talia Chow and Mark Campbell for generously sharing their Amber journey with us on our Customer Panel, the incredible Zara Seidler for giving us a sneak peak into learnings from The Daily Aus's inspiring start-up journey, legend and former Amber General Counsel, Susan Taylor for her insights into the energy market, and Square Peg’s Dan Krasnostein for his insightful investor Q+A. 💚 We’re already stoked for next year! 💫 ⏩
