A Harmony of Cultures and Generations! I am proud to share that our AMEP students in Mildura recently performed at Princess Court Aged Care, singing a variety of songs they learnt in our volunteer-led music class. It was more than just a performance; it was a celebration of community, culture, and the power of music to connect people across generations. A huge thank you to our volunteer music tutors, Megan Sullivan and Maevis Francis, for their dedication and passion in bringing this event to life, and to Albi DINKAR, our AMEP teacher, for coordinating the event! On Wednesday, we hosted our first #LuminousMelb2024 Lantern Parade inspired by our friends from Multicultural Australia in Queensland. We were expecting 150 people, but our community and partners showed their support and well over 350 people walked the street around the Multicultural Hub and Queen Victoria Market holding their lanterns to celebrate diversity while welcoming new members of our community. Special thank you to our supporters City of Melbourne, cohealth and Beyond Blue and to the team of volunteers who worked to make this marvellous event possible.

JOIN THE TEAM - Bicultural Work Rights Ambassador The Migrant Workers Centre is recruiting leaders of migrant communities in Victoria to become Bicultural Work Rights Ambassadors. People born overseas and working in Australia are disproportionately likely to face exploitation at work due to factors such as a lack of familiarity with Australian workplace laws, language barriers and prohibitive visa conditions. The program employs and trains active and trusted members of Victorian migrant communities to become Bicultural Work Rights Ambassadors, who are supported to deliver information sessions to their peers on workplace rights, occupational health and safety, and how to access culturally and linguistically appropriate support services.
