Congratulations to the HMAS Stirling Women’s Football Club on another fantastic year in the Peel Football and Netball League (PFNL) - again making it into the finals of the competition. Proud sponsors of the Garden Island based team, Austal and Marine Technicians Australia Pty Ltd (MTA) were delighted to be invited to the team’s end-of-season presentation evening held in Rockingham, last week. The Stirling Football Club was set up in 2023 to give women at HMAS Stirling an opportunity to play Australian Rules football. The #team placed second in the PFNL in their first season and in 2024, has grown to include ex-Royal Australian Navy and civilian members, promoting wellbeing and healthy connections and engagement throughout the local community. While the whole team has played exceptionally well throughout the year, a special mention and congratulations to Emma Ferrante, an AB Clearance Diver, who was Runner-Up ‘Best and Fairest’ of the League; and Jess Edwards, SMN Electronic Warfare, who finished up as the Leagues’ Second Lead Goal Scorer. We Did It! The Austal Giving #team have completed #theLONGrun 2024, supporting the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and raising money to help make prostate cancer history. Collectively, the team has walked, run or ridden an impressive 2,122.9 kilometres over the month of September - and thanks to our many generous sponsors, we have raised an amazing total of A$23,927.88 – the second highest total of any team in Australia! Congratulations to the Austal Giving team on an incredible result and a fantastic effort; especially Monica Berryman, from Austal Darwin who individually raised $16,043.10 - and Jeremy Griffiths and Mostyn McNeill who both clicked over 300km, individually. Arguably the greatest value we have all gained from #theLONGrun is the raised awareness of Prostate Cancer, it’s impact on our families and friends, and how we can help. Did you know; ·        Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia. ·        Prostate cancer is the second most common cause of death from cancer in Australian men. ·        72 Australian men are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer each day, and more than 10 men will die, each day, from the disease. ·        Your risk of prostate cancer increases as you get older. ·        If your father or brother have been diagnosed, your risk doubles ·        If 2 or more close family members have been diagnosed, your risk increases five-fold. ·        If you have family history of breast or ovarian cancer, and/or BRCA1 or 2 genes, your risk is also greater. ·        Prostate Cancer often has no symptoms at its earliest stages. As it grows, symptoms include difficulty or pain when urinating, pain in the hips or lower back, or blood in your urine.   If you’re a man over 50, ask your GP for a ‘PSA test’ annually. If you have family history, start testing annually from the age of 40. It’s not scary, it’s a simple blood test that takes 30 seconds! The Austal Philippines #team are very excited to share some more images of the 67 metre, wind-powered cargo trimaran, to be constructed for VELA - Sail For Goods, in Balamban, Cebu. Working on the detailed design with VELA and project partners VPLP Design and MerConcept, the Austal team are now preparing for construction of the aluminium vessel, which will be world’s largest sailing cargo trimaran; able to carry approximately 600 pallets across the Atlantic, 100% under sail. VELA selected Austal following an international tender involving over 30 shipyards, based on the company’s expertise and success in high-speed, multi-hull vessel design, construction and through-life support. Nicknamed “L’avion des Mers”, or “The Sea Plane”, the unique vessel is scheduled for delivery in the second half of CY2026. Austal Australia and Greenroom Robotics are pleased to announce the establishment of a strategic commercial partnership, following the successful completion of the Patrol Boat Autonomy Trial (PBAT) for the Royal Australian Navy. The Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) will see Austal Australia and Greenroom Robotics collaborate further on developing watercraft-based products, services and technologies that may reduce crewing, increase safety, and enable remote and autonomous operation of vessels designed and constructed by Austal Australia. The SPA continues the highly successful working relationship developed between Austal Australia and Greenroom Robotics during PBAT that saw both platform and navigation autonomy solutions developed for a decommissioned Armidale-class patrol boat. Austal Australia Chief Technology Officer Dr. Glenn Callow said the Agreement reflects both companies’ growing capabilities and demonstrated commitment to developing industry-leading remote and autonomous technologies, aligned with AUKUS Pillar 2 objectives. “The Patrol Boat Autonomy Trial highlighted Austal and Greenroom Robotics’ respective expertise in naval platform integration, and navigation and situational awareness systems technology to demonstrate a reliable, remote and autonomous-capable vessel.” “This Agreement enables Austal and Greenroom Robotics to continue working together, build upon the valuable lessons learned from PBAT and develop practical remote and autonomous solutions that may be applied to any watercraft designed or built by Austal. “Further, this Agreement aligns directly with the AUKUS Pillar 2 objective to develop advanced military capabilities, including autonomy and both Austal and Greenroom Robotics are ready to pursue opportunities that we hope one day, will be integral features of future Australian, UK and US naval vessels.” Greenroom Robotics Chief Technology Officer Harry Hubbert said both teams were looking forward to further developing systems that were tested and proven during the Patrol Boat Autonomy Trial and may be considered for future optionally crewed naval vessel programs. “We’re excited to be continuing our close collaboration with Austal to further develop fully integrated remote and autonomous technologies and explore new opportunities for optionally crewed vessels that ultimately may contribute to meeting AUKUS Pillar 2 objectives.” Read the full media release at https://lnkd.in/gdjg73C6 #austal #austalaustralia #greenroomrobotics #ADSTAR24 #defenceindustry #autonomy #autonomoustechnology #AUKUS

Austal USA has been awarded a US$450 million (approx. A$670 million) contract by General Dynamics Electric Boat to enable an expansion of production capacity at the Mobile, Alabama shipyard, in support of the US Navy Submarine Industrial Base (SIB). The contract award will fund the enhancement of existing infrastructure by including the design and construction of a new module fabrication and outfitting facility to support the goal of delivering one Columbia-class and two Virginia-class submarines annually. Construction of the new building will start this US Autumn and be complete in 2026. When fully operational, the building will support approximately 1,000 jobs and provide capability to fabricate, outfit, and transport submarine components. Austal Limited Chief Executive Officer Paddy Gregg noted this contract award is a testament to the growing partnership with General Dynamic Electric Boat and demonstrates its confidence in Austal USA as a valuable industry partner for these two important U.S. Navy submarine programs. “General Dynamics Electric Boat has recognised that Austal USA is a solid partner to deliver high-quality components for Virginia and Columbia-class submarines. Today, the Austal #team across Australia took time out to participate in R U OK? Day, but we know we can Ask R U OK? Any Day of the year. By having regular, meaningful conversations, we can build trust and normalise talking about what’s really going on in our lives; so when the people in our world find themselves struggling, they know we are someone they can talk to. Seeing who’s struggling isn’t always obvious. Today, we learnt about when and how to have a conversation that could change a life – and raised some money for R U OK? Day with a company-wide raffle and lolly jar guessing competitions. To learn more about R U OK? Day, or how to ask “R U OK?” go to https://lnkd.in/guhQkQG And remember, Ask R U OK? Any Day - because life happens every day.   #austal #austalaustralia #RUOKDay #startconversations

It’s been a big week at the Austal USA shipyard in Mobile, Alabama with two major milestones celebrated in the Expeditionary Fast Transport “Flight II” program. On 3 September, the #team launched USNS Point Loma (EPF 15), to complete final outfitting and system activation, alongside, before the ship commences sea-trials later in the year. On 6 September, a ceremony was held for the keel laying and official start of construction on USNS Lansing, (EPF 16), the final Expeditionary Fast Transport ship. Ship sponsor, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, with the assistance of Emija Coleman, a nine-year Austal USA veteran welder, authenticated the keel by welding her initials into a keel plate that will be welded to the hull of the ship. Secretary of the US Navy, the Honourable Carlos Del Toro was guest speaker at the keel laying ceremony and said “This ship highlights the success and importance of our Maritime Statecraft initiative, encompassing a national, whole-of-government effort to restore the comprehensive maritime power of our Nation.” EPF 16 is the third and final EPF “Flight II” ship to be built by Austal USA, designed to provide an enhanced medical capability that includes secondary health care built around primary surgery, an intensive care unit, ward beds and limited x-ray, laboratory and dental support facilities. The EPF’s catamaran design provides inherent stability to allow surgeons to perform medical procedures in the ship’s operating suite, underway. Enhanced capabilities to support V-22 flight operations and launch and recover 11 metre Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIBS) complement the ship’s medical facilities. #austal #austalUSA #usnavy #expeditionaryfasttransport #USNSPointLoma #launch #USNSLansing #keellaying

A proud moment for the Austal Australia #team recently, when Energy Power Systems Australia (EPSA) acknowledged the installation of over 100 x CAT engines into the Guardian-class Patrol Boats, being delivered to Defence Australia under the Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement (PPB-R) Project, SEA3036-1. Part of the Australian Government 's Pacific Maritime Security Program, the PPB-R Project now comprises 24 x Guardian-class Patrol Boats, designed and constructed by Austal in Henderson, Western Australia. The 39.5 metre steel hull vessels, gifted to our Pacific Island neighbours, are also serviced and supported by the Austal team in Cairns, Queensland. Thank you to the EPSA team for this fitting acknowledgement of the great collaboration between Austal Australia and EPSA on the PPB-R project; successfully contributing to Australia's national naval shipbuilding enterprise and sovereign capability. #Austal #EPSA #CATMarine #Guardian #PatrolBoats #defence #defenceindustry #australian #sovereigncapability

Energy Power Systems Australia's Marine Excellence Centre (MEC) has successfully delivered and commissioned 22 vessels for the Austal Pacific Patrol Boat program to date, incorporating a total of 110 CAT engines. We had the honour of presenting an award to Austal in recognition of the first 100 CAT engines to the program since being awarded the contract in 2017. The award was presented by Miles Taylor, Project Lead MEC, to Simon Fell CPPM, Patrol Boat Program Manager, and the Austal team. This milestone reflects our ongoing collaboration with Austal, and EPSA's commitment to supporting Australia's maritime defence industry. #MarineExcellence #EPSA #CATMarine #Austal #PacificPatrolBoat
