ASMR is pleased to announce that Professor Matt Dun was officially awarded with the ASMR’s 2024 Medal at the National Press Club luncheon today. Professor Dun is a paediatric leukaemia research specialist who has worked tirelessly to improve the survival of patients diagnosed with the world’s deadliest and most aggressive form of paediatric cancer, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (GIPD). Professor Dun was already researching childhood cancers when his daughter Josephine was diagnosed with DIPG in 2018. After discovering that palliative radiation was the only therapy available to patients, Professor Dun expanded his research to DIPG. His research and the new therapies he developed enabled Josephine to learn to walk and swim again. They also allowed her to live for 22 months after her diagnosis – significantly longer than the average of nine to 11 months. You can read more about how Professor Dun is transforming outcomes for other DIPG patients and watch the full story here: https://lnkd.in/g8TG2x4M
