Did you know that from the 2023-24 income year onwards, non-charitable not-for-profits (NFPs) with an active ABN that self-assess as income tax exempt must lodge an NFP self-review return? If this is you, don’t panic - we’ve got you covered. We have support available to help you lodge. You can lodge the NFP self-review return up to 31 March 2025. If you're ready to lodge now, don’t wait. You can lodge using our online services or the Self-help phone service.

We use data matching to get a picture of what’s happening across the rental market. We have just extended the property management data matching protocol. Data matching uses rental related income and expenses data collected from a variety of third party sources. We can now compare this source data to what is provided in tax returns, and use it to identify incorrect reporting.

“As a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and a leader in the ATO, I’m passionate about supporting an environment where everyone can feel comfortable and confident bringing their authentic self to work. When I joined the ATO some 17 years ago, I often felt like I had to hide or disguise some aspects of my identity at work. My biggest fear was standing out for any reason, right down to the tone of my voice and my sense of humour. I wanted to blend in. Today, I’m proud to be myself at work. In part, this is due to working in an environment that encourages me to be myself and recognises that people’s differences are part of their strengths. I’m grateful for a workplace that accepts and celebrates me for who I am, and others for who they are. In the great work our ATOMIC network provides to build inclusion in the workplace, let’s keep supporting the view that everyone should feel proud to be themselves, no matter where they work or who they love.” In the spirit of this year’s Wear it Purple Day theme (and in the words of one of the artists I admire most), I say ‘Don’t go for second best, baby! Express yourself!’” – Trav, ATO staff member. #WearItPurpleDay #YourPassionYourPride #WiPD2024
