How is AI technology improving health & safety for people and animals in the agriculture sector? This case study spotlights how Mort & Co, a leading beef cattle lot feeder and exporter of premium Australian agricultural products, is using Presien's AI vision system Blindsight to provide an extra level of safety for staff when using machinery on the field. Blindsight is a pre-trained AI vision system designed for mobile plant and fixed infrastructure. Presien's AI vision models recognise people, machinery, vehicles, and objects with remarkable accuracy, preventing accidents by alerting vehicle operators and crew to objects in blind spots. The system logs safety incident data for stakeholder access and safety reporting. Grassdale was chosen as the Blindsight trial site due to its significant number of traffic movements and previous collision incidents. Following a successful pilot, where critical detections were reduced by 65%, Mort & Co committed to rolling out the system on all front-end loaders across its wholly-owned feedlot locations. “There are many moving parts at a feedlot. With unpredictable animals, people on-the-go, and machinery, we’re always looking for ways to improve safety. As soon as we installed Blindsight, we gained a better understanding of our site. Plus, there were clear improvements in the team’s awareness of their surroundings. The automated reporting showed us that safety was improving with fewer critical detections. I think it’s something that could add huge value to other businesses within our industry.” - Caitlin Isaac (COHSProf), Workplace Health and Safety Manager, Mort & Co. After implementing Blindsight, Mort & Co was selected as a winner of the Australian Workplace Health & Safety Awards 2024 for Best WHS Technology Deployment and Adoption. "Presien has delivered projects in construction, infrastructure, mining, and now agriculture. We invested in the potential for this built environment technology to expand into adjacent industry use cases, so it's exciting to see the value now being delivered for natural capital assets." - Julian Kezelman, Innovation Director, Taronga Ventures. 🏆🎉 Celebrating our Australian WHS Leader of the Year 🎉🏆 At Autopact, safety is at the heart of everything we do and drives our mission of ensuring that all our employees, customers and suppliers can 'Drive Away Happy' every day. We are so proud to announce that last month our very own Chief Safety Officer, Stuart Rawlins, was awarded the 2024 Australian Institute of Health & Safety 'Australian WHS Leader of the Year (Large Business)' Award. Some words from Stuart: "Whilst this is an individual award category, I have no doubt that I would not have been in a position to win if I didn't have the full support of my CEO and our amazing 1600 employees at Autopact. Safety is about people, how you treat them, how you talk to them and how you listen to them. I can say that at Autopact we are definitely heading in the right direction on our safety journey." 👏 Please join us in congratulating Stuart for living our mission and values every day and making an enormous and lasting impact here at Autopact. #safety #aihs #safetyaward #whs #automotive #celebration #employeesafety #automotivesafety #workplacesafety #safetyinnovation #automotivesafetymarket Motor Trades Association of Australia
