In response to feedback from last year's Community Engagement Survey, the Coffs Harbour bypass project team has developed an innovative new digital wayfinding platform that puts the user in control of their journey planning. 🛣️ By entering a start and end point, along with a date range, users can see if the route will be affected by any traffic changes due to construction. Most excitingly, the new platform also offers a glimpse into the future, showing users how the bypass will enhance travel once construction is complete. Watch the video demo ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gxmtqmwa? or visit https://lnkd.in/gjuYMyuY and click on "Plan your journey" to see how the new tool works. #GlobalExpertise #LocalDelivery #CoffsHarbourBypass #CommunityEngagement #Innovation #Infrastructure Transport for NSW Ferrovial

International Women's Day was last week, but we are continuing our March series with a spotlight on women in our business. We have been asking them, how do we Accelerate Action? Dominique Fry CMIOSH MSc, Gamuda Health & Safety Manager in Victoria says: “As a mum of two daughters, I feel very strongly that we need to be doing more to break down barriers for women in construction and one of the most interesting developments I’ve seen in my 18 years in the industry was the considered move away from equality to equity. For example, one of my first employers in Australia identified a severe shortage of women train drivers and decided to take deliberate action to remedy the situation. A recruitment drive specifically appealing for women, which at the time was controversial, has reaped the rewards and created a more balanced workforce. Aside from targeted initiatives like this, another great step forward in tackling unconscious bias is with “blind recruitment”. Sanitising CVs and cover letters by removing colour, emotive wording, names, addresses, dates of birth, allows the reviewer to focus on academic and behavioural qualities. I also learnt quickly that site interactions go a lot more smoothly if you foster relationships and spend time with people. My advice to women considering construction comes from something I learnt early in my career: you are never stuck. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box or change direction - just as I studied Law and ended up in Health & Safety.” #Gamuda #GamudaAustralia #Construction #InternationalWomensDay #AccelerateAction #GenderEquity #WomenInConstruction

A massive congratulations to all the teams who have contributed to the remarkable progress of TBMs Betty and Dorothy! These machines have broken through into the Clyde dive junction caverns, marking an important milestone on the Sydney Metro West - Western Tunnelling Package. Since their journey began in 2023, Betty and Dorothy have been advancing on average around 200 metres per week. Together, they’ve already carved through around six kilometres of twin tunnels and removed more than 1.1 million tonnes of material. With more than 41,000 precast concrete segments in place to line the tunnels, and just over 3 kilometres (and 16,000 segments) to go, the Gamuda Australia Laing O'Rourke Consortium team is well on the way to completing this game-changing project. 🚧🚄 Next stop, Parramatta CBD. Keep up the great work, everyone! 👏 #GamudaAustralia #GlobalExpertise #LocalDelivery #Construction #Tunnelling #SydneyMetro #SydneyMetroWest

📢 📢 Innovative engineering in action on the M1 Pacific Motorway extension! In a huge milestone for the John Holland Gamuda Australia joint-venture, piling has begun on the crucial over-water section of the 2.6km viaduct over the Hunter River, with 16 of 20 piles to be installed in the river from the barge. The bridge is being built using a combination of a heavy lift barge and an 80-metre temporary rock platform to access the Hunter River. This approach is expected to expedite the completion of the bridge by up to four months, reduce congestion on the surrounding road network sooner and improve safety for workers. A second construction barge will assist with the installation of 90 bridge girders (concrete beams). Stay tuned for updates as the new M1 viaduct takes shape. #GamudaAustralia #GlobalExpertise #LocalDelivery #M1PacificMotorwayExtension Transport for NSW #Construction #Infrastructure #Roads

Our team on the Coffs Harbour bypass project has been hard at work, restoring the landscape by planting more than 12,000 native trees, including 1,240 koala feed trees in January and February alone. 🌱🌱 These plantings are bringing life to interchange roundabouts, hill slopes, and areas adjacent to the carriageways – but most importantly will protect and enhance local koala habitats. A special shout-out to the local nurseries and landscapers who are working closely with our project team to propagate and plant these vital trees. Three key restoration areas are being planted with approximately 5,000 koala feed trees. As these trees mature and form canopies, they will reconnect bushland, creating crucial fauna corridors and supporting local biodiversity. #GlobalExpertise #LocalDelivery #Gamuda #CoffsHarbourBypass #Infrastructure #Sustainability #Environment Transport for NSW Ferrovial

Happy International Women's Day to all the women within our industry and beyond. At Gamuda, we are committed to gender equity and a fair, safe and inclusive workplace for everyone. This is embedded within our policies and procedures, such as setting minimum gender ratios for all new-to-industry roles and launching initiatives which have seen us achieve a 30% female participation rate across our business. This year, we're asking women across our business how do we Accelerate Action? Tracey Medley – Senior Project Engineer – M1 says: “As the first female in NSW to complete a Landscape trade, I found myself drawn to civil work, trading small holes for big excavations. That shift eventually led me to civil engineering. Young women need to see women in male roles and be supported to transition from uni to construction careers. We need structured pathways and programs for women into leadership, support programs for returning mums and flexibility in site-based roles. My advice for women coming into construction is to believe in yourself. Find mentors. Network. Women can do any role in construction. We bring unique and valuable perspectives that might otherwise never be uncovered.” #Gamuda #GamudaAustralia #Construction #InternationalWomensDay #AccelerateAction #GenderEquity #WomenInConstruction #MarchForward

Tomorrow is International Women's Day 2025. In our series over the month of March, we have been asking women across our business how do we Accelerate Action? Bronnie Cave, Gamuda Resourcing Manager says: “Real, meaningful change happens when we challenge outdated attitudes, advocate for fairness, and create pathways for all talent to succeed. Construction is an industry built on impact, and that’s exactly why I was drawn to it. But like many women in this field, I’ve faced barriers—assumptions that we aren’t as capable or suited for the work. Instead of letting that define me, I focused on building relationships, proving my expertise, and driving change from within. For us to accelerate gender equality, we need to ensure hiring is based on talent. We need workplaces where women feel heard and supported, especially on site where teamwork is so critical. Our leaders must move beyond equity policies and actively champion inclusion in real, visible ways. My advice to young women considering construction? Don’t let misconceptions hold you back—construction is rewarding and full of opportunities. Be curious, ask questions, and take the time to build meaningful relationships with those around you. #Gamuda #GamudaAustralia #Construction #InternationalWomensDay #AccelerateAction #GenderEquity #WomenInConstruction #MarchForward

The theme for International Women's Day 2025 is #AccelerateAction so for the month of March we are spotlighting women across our business, and asking them how? Monica Porte, Stakeholder & Community Engagement Lead – M1 says: “I joined the construction industry by accident when restarting my career after kids. Early on, I faced challenges—from long site hours while balancing family life to something as simple as inadequate site facilities for women. While progress has been made, subtle barriers still linger. Flexibility remains a key issue. The old attitudes that equate value to long hours on site still exist. The change must come from the top. When senior leaders advocate and “walk the talk,” on flexibility it sends a powerful message to young women on site. To women considering construction: do it! There will be challenges, but the industry is full of genuine, caring people who will walk alongside you.” #Gamuda #GamudaAustralia #Construction #InternationalWomensDay #AccelerateAction #GenderEquity #WomenInConstruction

This week we are celebrating women in construction as we head toward International Women's Day 2025. So, how do we #AccelerateAction? Sianne Bennett, Gamuda's Head of Human Resources says: “Over the years, I’ve seen real progress in diversity and inclusion, not just through government policies but within companies like Gamuda, which recognise that diverse teams drive success. We’re fostering an environment where everyone feels they matter and can contribute. From launching our Tunnelling and Infrastructure Academy to welcoming over 100 schoolgirls to our Skills for Schools Workshops and completing our first Reconciliation Action Plan, we’re breaking down barriers and driving change. Challenges remain. To truly accelerate gender equality, we need action on all fronts—more school students choosing construction careers, gender-balanced entry programs, equal pay for equal work, and robust Gender Equality Action Plans. My advice to young women? Give construction a go. Our industry offers diverse career paths, and if one doesn’t fit, there’s always another. Seek people to help guide you, put your hand up for challenges. It’s daunting but careers accelerate by being launched into the deep end.” #Gamuda #GamudaAustralia #Construction #InternationalWomensDay #AccelerateAction #GenderEquity #WomenInConstruction
