What an incredible experience at the Australian Institute of Health & Safety Australian Workplace Health & Safety Awards Gala in Sydney last week! It was an honour to be surrounded by so many passionate professionals who are truly making a difference in our industry. A huge congratulations to all the winners and finalists - your dedication and hard work are inspiring. 👏 A special shout-out to Robert Nankivell from BHP, who I had the pleasure of spending two nights with. Rob took home an award for us in WA, and it was a privilege to see his achievements recognized on such a big stage. Well deserved, mate! 🏆 To everyone who attended and contributed to making this event such a success - thank you for an unforgettable experience. #AIHS #WorkplaceSafety #WHS #Leadership #Safety

We are thrilled to be awarded the Best Health & Wellbeing Program award alongside the University of South Australia and The University of Queensland for Project WERC at the 2024 Australian Workplace Health & Safety Awards which took place in Sydney last week. We’re very proud of Project WERC (Workplace Engagement Respect and Care), an evidence-based program to prevent bullying and build a healthy workplace culture, and our partnership with the University of South Australia and The University of Queensland. Implemented in Woolworths Supermarkets stores, Project WERC demonstrated a significant reduction in bullying in trial locations. The success of Project WERC serves as a model for broader organisational change and setting a new standard in workplace health and wellbeing. We remain committed to providing a safe and engaging place to work for all our teams. Thrilled for Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network (BHFLHN) to have been a finalist for the Best Workplace Wellbeing Program at the Australian Workplace Health and Safety Awards! While we didn't take home the win, I’m incredibly proud of BHF's commitment to fostering a healthier, more supportive work environment. We won!!!! The Australian Institute of Health & Safety Australian Work Health and Safety Award for Best WHS Learning and Development Program for 2024. It's a great end result, I’m especially proud of the co-design process, where we built the program with Bluescope leaders, for Bluescope leaders. This is a strategic collaboration between over 700 steel makers, a brave Bluescope leadership team, two amazing academics (Dr. Tristan Casey and Peter Caputi) a group of geeky health practitioners, leadership and change consultants, and an admin and data team that was second to none. This program is not a shelf program or a product, it is a living and breathing collaborative relationship between people invested in building capacity in real workplaces. There are too many people to thank but special credit to the admin and data team, Bella, Jasmine, Sam and Sarah, the team of national facilitators and the courageous leaders who gave us the green light to evolve what was already a strong safety culture. We sorely missed a few key people last night, Stephanie O'Dwyer, Sarah Irish, Sam Manago, Christina Quattropani, Trent Yeo, Brett Dixon, Stephen Roberts, Stephanie Bruseker, Karen Bonenfant, Brad McLean and to Stephen Norbury and Tania Archibald, I’ll be forever grateful for this opportunity, for your leadership and direction and for constantly challenging us as a team to reflect and improve. We wouldn’t be the best without this strive for excellence. You both live and breathe the purpose, creating and inspiring smart solutions. This was not without sacrifices. Thankyou to my 2 beautiful kids Bailey and Halle and my partner Ryan Banks who have all supported me to do this work. Especially when I was listening to all the 200 episodes of back catalogue of Todd Conklins podcast in the car for months on end. It paid off. Xxx
