We warmly welcome Matthew Spithill to the Aware Real Estate team as Chief Financial Officer.   Matt’s key responsibilities include strategic financial management and reporting, and ensuring the effectiveness of Aware Real Estate’s governance frameworks.   Matt has over 20 years’ experience working for major financial services businesses in London and Sydney. This included 10 years as the CFO/COO of Eureka Funds Management/AXA IM Australia, and Chair of the Audit and Risk Management and Charity Committees.   Key experience and skills span all aspects of investment management including fund administration, risk management, compliance and governance. Matt has extensive experience in corporate finance transactions, process improvement and transformation projects including the sale and subsequent integration of Eureka into the global AXA business.   What excites Matt the most is the opportunity to contribute to a transparent, innovative culture where the entire team has the opportunity to contribute to Aware Real Estate’s performance.   Matt shares,   ‘I’m thrilled to be joining such a high performing team, with a dynamic culture that is people-centric and purpose-led. I look forward to contributing to the company’s growth and success, creating new opportunities for the business, and ultimately ensuring strong returns for Aware Super’s 1.1 million members.’

Last week the team celebrated the opening of our valued tenants' ARDEX Australia Pty Ltd new Oceania HQ at The YARDS Estate at Kemps Creek. Owned by JV Partners Aware Real Estate and Frasers Property Industrial, developed in partnership with Barings, this new $140m regional headquarters of GLA 26,265 sqm features a world-class 35-metre-high powder manufacturing tower, a 20 metre silo tower, onsite production and manufacturing, research labs, warehouse storage, training rooms and has been built to enhance employee wellbeing with an onsite gym, multiple cafes areas for staff, a rooftop terrace and high-end interior designed offices by IA spanning over 3,000sqm. The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor of Penrith, Councillor Todd Carney and Member for Badgerys Creek and Shadow Assistant Minister for Jobs and Small Business Tanya D. MP, along with the teams at Frasers Property Industrial, Aware Real Estate, Barings and ARDEX Australia. Fabian Morgan, Regional Managing Director for ARDEX Oceania and Member of the Global Management Committee, said: “Thank you to Aware Real Estate and Frasers Property Industrial for your partnership in developing the site. The professionalism, vision and collaborative spirit across all teams has been critical in bringing this project to fruition.” The YARDS, an expansive 77 ha estate in the Mamre Road Precinct, is undergoing significant construction with five additional buildings scheduled for completion in 2024. The estate is now 75 per cent leased, with a limited number of remaining available lots. Currently available is Lot 6 and is planned for completion in early 2025. Over the last three years Michelle McNally has led the establishment of the Aware Real Estate business as the inaugural CEO, having successfully grown the platform to $3bn in assets with a development pipeline of $3bn, with a talented team now in place. At this natural inflection point for the business, Michelle has decided to pursue the next phase in her career. Aware Real Estate enters Brisbane market with $215.5m office play. Aware Real Estate has announced its first Queensland acquisition snapping up a $215.5 million high-quality A grade CBD asset in Brisbane adding to its $3 billion property portfolio. Located in the up-town precinct of Brisbane CBD, 145 Ann Street is a 27-level office accommodation with high-grade environmental credentials and high-quality tenant amenities including end-of-trip, wellness centre and on-site concierge. Aware Real Estate Head of Investment and Capital Transactions Pete Carstairs said the acquisition was aligned with ARE’s strategy to target office opportunities along the Eastern seaboard. “This asset has cleverly designed floorplates that capture expansive views, is close to public transport and offers tenants high quality amenities,” he said. “Expanding into the Brisbane office market will also provide ARE geographical exposure to a new, core eastern seaboard market that is currently showing growth due to market tailwinds. Mr Carstairs said one of the key differentiators of 145 Ann Street in the Brisbane leasing market was its higher level of sustainability credentials compared to many key peers including: 6-Star Green Star Performance rating for Building Operations and high operating performance certifications. “Environmental credentials are critical for major tenants looking for office spaces that meet their environmental criteria,” he said, adding ARE would aim to further improve the environmental performance of the asset.
