We are proud to have played a pivotal role in the Mulgoa Road Upgrade between Jeanette Street, Regentville, and Blaikie Road, Jamisontown. The project is underway, upgrading Mulgoa Road to support current and future traffic demands, by widening the road to become a six-lane divided road. The project commenced in 2023, with expected completion in 2026. Our Contributions: ✍🏽 Strategic Design Review: Conducted an independent review of the 80% design drawings to ensure alignment with project objectives and identify potential improvements. 📄 Documentation Assessment: Performed a comprehensive evaluation of all existing project documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness. 🚧 Alternative Construction Staging: Developed a revised construction staging plan and accompanying program, which informed the update of the 80% estimate for Transport for NSW. ⚠️ Risk and Opportunity Analysis: Identified key project risks and potential opportunities, facilitating proactive management strategies. Our proposed construction staging was accepted by TfNSW and provided to the market for consideration. Components of which have been adopted and implemented by Seymour Whyte and Turnbull Engineering onsite.

Our Directors, James and Keith love to get out into the community. This session was run by St Luke's Catholic College in Marsden Park in honour of World Engineering Day. Keith Peters spent some time at the school on a panel with members of sydneymetro and NorthConnex to bring real life relevance to a career in engineering. It's an honour to be encouraging the next generation to find out more about what we do and the challenges and opportunities this work holds.

As we approach International Women’s Day on March 8, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible women across the civil engineering and project management space. We’re committed to fostering an environment where women can grow, lead, and thrive, because when we lift each other up, we all move forward. We'd like to give a special shout out to Anita Kilbride, one of our Senior Planners on the Axia team. Her presence on our team brings excellence and her ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders makes us stronger. This International Women’s Day, we honour the achievements of women in engineering and project management and strive towards a future where every woman feels empowered to pursue a career in STEM.

The Coxs River Road Upgrade significantly reduces congestion and improves safety and accessibility for all local and highway road users, commuters and pedestrians. Working closely with Ertech and Transport For NSW, we set about providing extensive support to drive the success of the project and ensuring the obligations for the project approval were met without impacting the project schedule. Project Highlights: 🏗️ Scope of Work: Our dedicated team played a key role in the upgrade of 2.4 kilometres of the Great Western Highway from east of Mid Hartley Road to east of Coxs River Road. This included all civil, structural and bridgeworks as well as the management of naturally occurring acid sulphate rock. 🛣️ Engineering Challenges: Given the location of the project was relatively isolated between main town centres with a high temperature variant environment, we utilised modified concrete and asphalt mixes to maintain project quality requirements and overall program milestones. 🌿 Environmental Considerations: Adhering to the stringent requirements included within the Review of Environmental Factors, we implemented strategies to meet contractual, legal and environmental requirements. This ensured sustainable practices could be implemented throughout the project with reduced impact on the local community.

Axia Engineering was delighted to have Keith Peters & BJ Kilzi attend the Roads Australia Industry Lunch in Sydney last week, where Dr. Marjorie O'Neill MP emphasised the critical need for smarter, safer transport infrastructure in NSW. The focus on connecting Western Sydney, particularly the Aerotropolis, through high-value road networks was a key takeaway. The panel discussion, featuring leaders from Transport and Infrastructure NSW, highlighted the importance of integrating housing, transport, and services for Sydney's future growth. Excited for Axia to contribute to these transformative projects shaping our city’s future! #Infrastructure #Transport #UrbanDevelopment #WesternSydney
"Building another row of homes on the western edge of Sydney with no infrastructure is not the way to plan the future of our city," said Dr Marjorie O'Neill MP, NSW Parliamentary Secretary for Transport at today's Roads Australia Industry Lunch in Sydney, sponsored by SMEC. Dr O'Neill's opening keynote set the scene for an insightful discussion about the role of transport investment in addressing a range of government priorities - from access to housing, employment and essential services to urban renewal, resilience and disaster recovery. Dr O'Neill noted that the NSW Government's primary focus is on building high value arterial roads that are "smarter and safer" and connect people to jobs and communities. "Making sure that the Western Sydney Airport is connected to our road network is the most pressing issue," said Dr O'Neill, flagging that future road investment will be focused on fully leveraging the economic opportunities of the Aerotropolis. This was followed by a panel discussion featuring the state's three most senior infrastructure officials - Josh Murray, Secretary, Transport for NSW, Kiersten Fishburn, Secretary of the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure and Tom Gellibrand, CEO of Infrastructure NSW. The conversation centred on the transformational impact of Sydney Metro and the opportunity to better integrate investment in transport, housing and essential services. On Sydney Metro, Josh Murray said: "We really do think that this is going to be that game changers that was promised for mode shift across Sydney and vibrancy across different precincts." On the NSW Government's significant infrastructure investment in the Aerotropolis, Tom Gellibrand said: "This is a very substantial investment in a constrained budgetary environment, and we need to very quickly leverage that investment and make sure the allocations we have spread as far as possible." On Transport-Oriented Development Kiersten Fishburn said: "Our infrastructure is precious and where we have already invested in it, we need to go in and make that investment in housing."
