Securing Australia's Water Future: Adelaide Desalination Plant Today, March 22, is World Water Day, and we reflect on the importance of sustainable freshwater management for our planet. Designed and built by the #ACCIONAteam, this facility has operated since 2012. The plant is currently producing a remarkable 300 million litres of fresh water every day to provide essential drought protection for South Australia. This infrastructure empowers the region to withstand increasingly severe drought conditions and secure reliable water supply for South Australia's population year-round. While glaciers retreat at alarming rates worldwide, threatening floods, droughts and ecosystem damage, innovative water solutions like desalination offer communities stability and resilience. The Adelaide Desalination Plant stands as a testament to our commitment to manage water resources sustainably in a changing climate. We are excited to share that our Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project in Perth is a finalist for the 2025 Australian Construction Achievement Award! This award celebrates groundbreaking projects that set new benchmarks in Australia’s construction industry, and we’re honoured to be part of this year’s lineup. Congrats to the #ACCIONAteam together with our project partners BMD Group, WSP and AECOM. Thanks also to Engineers Australia for this incredible recognition. The METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project is a transformative infrastructure initiative that enhances safety, connectivity, and urban development. The project includes six major intersection modifications and the removal of existing level crossings, while five new elevated stations and two bus interchanges, featuring 24 bus stands, will streamline transport services. Rubber Tyres on Rail? These custom-built rubber-tyred gantry cranes revolutionised the construction on Perth's METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project. These precision-engineered machines, commissioned from Italy, delivered remarkable efficiency to install precast concrete structures along the Armadale Line. The numbers speak for themselves: our crane system successfully managed heavy lifts of 140 tonnes and precisely positioned over 60% of the 1,000 precast elements required for the elevated rail sections. This innovative approach significantly reduced our construction footprint, preserving vital trees and vegetation along the rail corridor. The construction of Perth's first elevated rail project will mark a transformation for local communities - improving traffic flow and creating valuable public spaces beneath the rail line. #SustainableInfrastructure #InvestInThePlanet #ACCIONAteam

Overpass is Taking Shape! The Gold Coast's future Helensvale Road overpass is taking shape with the ACCIONA and Georgiou JV teams completing bridge girder installations and deck pours. A total of 36 girders were installed, all of which were manufactured locally in Southeast Queensland. Bridge superstructure works are now underway and progressing well!
