2024 marks our fifth year partnering with Orange Sky Australia and this July, with your help, we raised an incredible $203,633. Those donations have an immediate impact on people doing it tough and experiencing homelessness – every dollar raised is going to hot showers, fresh laundry and meaningful conversation. We'd like to say a massive thanks to everyone who donated throughout the month. 🧡

In celebration of our 150th anniversary, we commissioned First Nations artist and proud Kamilaroi woman Merinda Walters to create a piece that reflected our 150 years of history, legacy, and ties to the state of Queensland. A range of people from the business took part in yarning circles with Merinda, where they reflected on their personal experience at BOQ, which helped to form the final piece. The resulting artwork, called Burrul gi-gi Magula (meaning growing together in Kamilaroi, an original language of southern Queensland and northern New South Wales areas), is a celebration of the past 150 years and a promise for the future. Recently revealed in Brisbane at our NAIDOC week celebrations, the artwork will now take pride of place in our corporate offices and branches across Australia - keep an eye out. We recently hosted ‘Maroon Class’ a safe space for Sydney-based Queensland fans to enjoy the big game. 🏈 Winners from our competition with Triple M were treated to a private screening at Event Cinemas, surrounded by fellow Maroons supporters, plenty of popcorn and good vibes all round! We’re a ‘Go Queensland’ kind of bank – no matter the outcome. 💙💛#BankofQueensland

The last stop on our Vehicle for Kindness tour was Townsville, where we visited students from our community partners, Clontarf Foundation and Stars Foundation - Australia. We dropped off camping and wellness items for students and donated a term’s worth of driving lessons – a key initiative of Clontarf and Stars Foundation, which helps young people to get their driver's license, increasing access to education and employment opportunities. Students also enjoyed a video message from AFL legend Lachie Neale and some signed footys to top it off. 1,350km later, our tour has wrapped up! It was a pleasure to connect with so many of our Queensland community across the week, spreading kindness in our 150th year. 💙💛

The next stop on our Vehicle for Kindness tour was Bundaberg, where we visited Angels Community Group delivering essential food and hygiene products to create 250 emergency hampers. Our community partner, Orange Sky Australia, was on-site, as Angels is home to an Orange Sky Laundry Pod, providing clean laundry and conversation to local friends. We were joined by volunteers from the BOQ Bundaberg branch, hosting a hot breakfast and connecting with local community members throughout the morning. Next up? Townsville, to continue spreading kindness in celebration of our 150th year. 💙💛
