Since announcing our transition to a digital bank back in March, our incredible colleagues have conducted more than 130 Community Banking Workshops to more than 1150 attendees across Western Australia. We’re now evolving these sessions to be virtual, enabling customers and community members from all over Australia – especially those in remote and regional areas, who might not be able to attend an in-person session – to benefit from this resource. Available to anyone, regardless of who they bank with, these workshops are designed to help our customers and the community engage with digital banking safely, securely, and with confidence, by covering: - Information on staying safe from scams and fraud online - The different ways to complete their banking (whether in person or digitally) - How to perform various digital banking tasks. If you, or anyone you know, would benefit from attending one of our Virtual Community Banking Workshops, visit the registration link to get started: https://lnkd.in/gzvfs_2E

As we continue our aspirations to become Australia’s favourite digital bank, we’re constantly looking at ways we can support our customers transition to digital banking. This is particularly important when it comes to those in vulnerable situations who may not be as confident with digital offerings. That’s why our frontline colleagues have been working with the Office of the Public Advocate to learn more about their Guardianship and Administration program. Facilitated by OPA’s Manager Advocacy Investigation and Legal, Debra Casey, the program aims to empower participants to help customers in vulnerable circumstances, share what resources are available, and provide information on what we can do to support our teams – whether it’s those helping customers or our own people. With a series of these sessions planned well into the new year, we’re committed to working with partners like the Office of the Public Advocate WA in ensuring our colleagues are best prepared to support our customers, often when they need us the most.

It’s been another year of being incredible together with Telethon7! We’re so proud to be one of Telethon’s longest standing partners, having been there from the very beginning to help raise money to continue changing lives and building brighter futures for Western Australian kids in need. Every year our colleagues look forward to volunteering in the call centre and festival and over the years we’ve clocked more than 20,000 hours. This year we’ve raised funds at various events across Perth and launched our special FatCat QR code for an EOFY outdoor media campaign to help people make an easy digital donation! Thank you WA, for helping to make this a record-breaking year and raising over $83.3 million!

It’s Loud Shirt Day, and we’re wearing our brightest colours to help raise awareness and fundraise for TSH , recognising the special needs of kids with hearing loss. We’re committed to customer accessibility and one way we’re doing this is by working with the National Relay Service (NRS) to communicate with customers hard of hearing. When a customer uses this service, the NRS communicates the customer’s queries to us and relays our response back, similar to how a translator communicates on behalf of a customer speaking another language.

In the lead up to the AFL Grand Final, we hosted an exclusive panel discussion for our brilliant brokers. Organised in collaboration with our partners, Fremantle Dockers, this Broker Connect Event featured a star-studded panel of AFL legends, sharing their thoughts on the importance of being a supportive leader and managing morale when working in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. Well done to all of our colleagues who participated in the 21km and 10km walks as part of our annual Can4Cancer fundraiser! This year in Perth, the 754 walkers who participated walked around the beautiful Swan River, starting and ending at Optus Stadium. Organised in partnership with Tour de Cure Australia, Can4Cancer is an opportunity to connect with colleagues, get active and most importantly, raise vital funds for cancer research projects. This year, we raised more than $185,000 and counting. An amazing effort by everyone involved!

For 56 years, Telethon7 has been helping raise money for sick, vulnerable and disadvantaged children in Western Australia and we’ve been right alongside them from the very beginning. As we head into the 57th year of our partnership, we’re ready to roll up our sleeves and help with WA’s biggest fundraising weekend once again. For Customer Communications Manager, Laura Bowkett , volunteering in the Telethon Call Centre has become an annual tradition. Using one of her two paid volunteer days to support Telethon, Laura is grateful that Bankwest gives colleagues the opportunity to support causes they’re passionate about and looks forward to the weekend every year. “This will be my tenth-year volunteering and let me tell you, it never gets dull! Bankwest is synonymous with Telethon, people see you in the orange shirt and they know that you’re representing our community, so it’s something that makes you feel very proud. Plus, it’s a really great time celebrating such a great cause!” The 2024 Telethon weekend is just under two weeks away from 19-20 October. To donate to Telethon visit: https://telet.hn/bankwest

As Grand Final fever swept through the nation last week, two lucky Bankwest customers enjoyed the ultimate AFL experience thanks to our Best Seats in the House competition! Christina from Brisbane has been a Lions fan her whole life and never dreamed she would have the opportunity to see them hold up the Cup at the G after winning the tickets, flights and accommodation for the weekend. Helen (pictured second) was equally as ecstatic, having lived in Melbourne her whole life but never attending a Grand Final in person. “I’ve sent my mortgage broker an email thanking him for recommending Bankwest and to let him know I won tickets as a result of his recommendation. Maybe I should have taken him, but I took my son! We’re really grateful and are happy Bankwest customers.” Thanks to Fremantle Dockers and our epic partnership for helping us celebrate with our customers and share this once in a lifetime experience!

Joining us in a role helping customers on the phone in 2011, Craig Sunley developed a passion in data and analytics which led to a role as a Change Manager in our technology area. “I found my passion for working with data when I led the Real Time and Workforce Planning teams during COVID, learning to pivot and change priorities on a day-to-day basis to support our colleagues and customers. The stakeholder engagement, time management and analytical skills I learnt in that role gave me the platform to develop into my current role within Bankwest Tech as a Change Manager.” It’s colleagues like Craig who are helping us build on our mission to become Australia’s favourite digital bank, and it’s never been a more exciting time to be part of our digital transformation. To join us and the wider CBA Group on this mission, check out the roles we have on offer. Being one of WA’s largest employers, there’s sure to be an opportunity in tech, operations or customer service that will suit you: https://lnkd.in/geDA6daZ

This week, we’ve started heading across WA to communities where we no longer have a branch, helping customers with digital banking, scams and fraud, and how they can continue to complete their banking. Our first stop was Moora Recreation Centre, where Community Banking colleagues, Di and Madi were on-hand to provide in-person, personal support through one-on-one and workshop sessions. The pair helped customers understand how to continue banking with us, helping set up app and online banking, demonstrating how to use our 24/7 in-app messaging, and answering questions on term deposits, deceased estates, and Executive Power of Attorneys. And while we managed to help many customers, we understand that access to a branch can be important to some, and that’s okay. We’re also here to help customers in transitioning to CBA, who have committed to continuing to operate the largest branch network in Australia. That was what Di and Madi did for a Moora customer, not only helping them to open a CBA account and move their direct debits, but then driving the customer personally to the local CBA branch to finalise the transition.
