Your support has changed the lives of mothers around the world. 💗 Compassion works with mums and babies to prevent premature death, secure good health and enable positive development. In partnership with Compassion, local churches run activities and carry out regular home visits both before and after birth. Mothers are part of the program during their pregnancy, through birth and up until their child is 1 year old and can transition to the Child Sponsorship Program. #CompassionAustralia #ImpactMonth #CompassionImpact #ImpactOfGenerosity #MumsAndBabies

Living in a digital age, we can experience a lot online. Social media, virtual reality and AI are just some modern advancements that can wire us to believe we’re fostering a true sense of community at the click of a button. But as Emily learnt on a trip with Compassion, there are some things that can only be taught through face-to-face connection. A watermelon changed her worldview. 🍉 Find out how: https://lnkd.in/g4mMHQG5

“Let Justice roll on like a river…like a never failing stream….” What a great reminder to use our power and authority in a way that considers those who have less agency. As leaders- where do we have influence we can use to help others? As parents- how can we empower and invest into the future adults our kids will be? As philanthropists- how can we be intentional about investing in the lives of those beyond our backyard to change the trajectory of the next generation ? As consumers- how can we make choices that consider the hands that make the products? And future generations who will be impacted by their by-products? Imagine having your worldview changed in 72 hours 🌎💙 A team recently travelled to the Philippines to see firsthand the powerful impact Compassion’s local church partners are making in their communities. Even on a short trip, this group of leaders learned valuable lessons as they met with children at the local Compassion child development centre and walked the streets of their Filipino neighbourhood. They came home with a newfound appreciation for the work Compassion is doing releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name, and their lives will never be quite the same.

The Compassion team has a new member! 🎉 We are pleased to announce that Steve Baird has joined Compassion Australia as Chief Marketing Officer. Steve joins Compassion at an exciting time of growth and geographic expansion as we enter new partnerships in Australia and scale our operations across Asia. He has served as CEO of International Justice Mission Australia, Head of Marketing for Virgin Velocity Frequent Flyer, and in various marketing roles with Qantas. “I am humbled to be taking up this opportunity with Compassion Australia,” says Steve. “I have engaged with Compassion as a supporter, in the NGO community and on the program front lines, and in all instances have been struck by the spirit of collaboration, commitment to excellence, fidelity to the Christian faith and devotion to the vulnerable. It is a rare and exciting opportunity to be taking stewardship of such a trusted brand, to help create lasting impact for the children we serve.”  We are confident Steve will bring incredible value to our organisation. “I have known Steve for many years,” says CEO Clare Steele. “He is a man of great integrity, passion and has a commitment to the vulnerable and marginalised. Did you know that, in Australia, Gen Zs are the most likely to be giving a monthly donation to a charity or non-profit? In a 2023 study by McCrindle Research, they found that 32 per cent of surveyed Gen Zs give monthly, compared with 26 per cent of Millennials, 22 per cent of Gen Xs and 21 per cent of Baby Boomers. The future is bright! ☀️ This group of young people from Gunnedah are a perfect example! They heard stories about their global neighbours at the local Compassion Sunday at The Chapel Collective church. Moved to action, they came together to find a creative solution to make an impact. They found they couldn’t afford to each sponsor a child, but they could pool their funds to sponsor as a youth group. For just $4 a month each, they are making an incredible impact in the life of a boy named Duncan.
